Current methods to check fare/booking class availability:
  • Expertflyer.com $99 / year
  • KVS Fees vary
  • Travel Agent friends
If you are requesting flight load / class availability, please provide the following:

1. Actual travel date (don't say tomorrow, or similar, as that is ambiguous given the global flyertalk membership)
2. Departure and arrival airport codes
3. Flight number

Thanks!

Hey,

So Barney recently helped me with flight loads for the following flights:

BA2265
LGW - MBJ
17/12/2022

BA2264
MBJ-LGW
31/12/2022

The cheaper seats were showing as zero (sorry I don’t know the flight classes). However I checked EF today to see seat availability, and it showed 5 seats booked and the rest are available. Can someone confirm whether this means the cheaper seats haven’t been sold yet?

Thanks in advance

If you mean you looked at the seat map and saw 5 seats taken, that is not a useful guide on how many seats are left for sale as BA charge non-status holders for seat selection, so a lot of people will take their chances on seat selection when checking in. Looking at both dates, currently BA only have seats for sale in the most expensive fare buckets in each class (J, W and Y), so I would wait a few days and put an alert on EF to see if they re-open lower fare buckets as it seems to be very early to only have the most expensive fare buckets on sale.

Thank you Pilot37,

Thats exactly what I meant lol so thank you for clarifying. I was also curious as to why there were only expensive fares available. Fingers and toes crossed that the cheaper seats open up.

In other words, forget about any cheaper tickets opening up, this flight is looking very full.

Not sure which POS you queried, but both flights have 9J available, the flight isn't full - BA have (for some reason) pulled lower fare classes but I would expect a few lower buckets to be re-opened.

How popular is BA850 (LHR - WAW) on the 3rd of July 2022? It seems to be only Eco. Plus at £504 p/p which I do not fancy paying....
Furthermore, what about BA846 (LHR - WAW) on the 4th of July 2022?

Also, does anyone know why BA850 on 3/7/22 is Eco Plus? And also, if these flights have any chances of being cheaper? Thank you.

Here you go, UK POS, in order requested:

BA are currently only selling the higher priced fare buckets (Y&B) in Eurotraveller. Possibly due to bookings already made and it being the smaller A319 aircraft with less seats than an A320/321(however the aircraft type might change?).

They may have sold out of cheaper 'hand baggage only' fares, thus only plus baggage fares are on sale. Whether any do actually become available is probably anybody's guess but possibly not.

BA are selling Eurotraveller buckets Y down to K on this flight.

Thank you for the reply,

I'm very surprised at how full such a flight is considering it is before proper holiday season; I don't reckon BA will lower prices much anymore on these flights as they seem to have been already profitable enough for them. Shame, as I wanted to get onboard the lovely little A319s!

Thanks for clarifying. I was getting a bit nervous lol. Definitely need something lower than £1000 for a child fare!

Manchester to the Great Glen is not looking massively full- K9 is ok. Let me go get seatmap to see if that helps.
