27 Mar : BA65 to NBO returns to LHR. Pax booked on the return BA64.

BA65 to NBO is about to land at LHR again now (12:15 GMT) after turning around near the Dutch-German border.

Does anyone have an idea what might have caused this?

A friend is on BA64 tonight from NBO back to LHR and am now concerned that this flight will be cancelled.

If anyone knows where I could find out more this would be appreciated

So it appears possibly a medical diversion, but it could be COVID-19 related or refused permission to land at NBO.

Twitter says that the “Pilot told ATC: "We had a message the Kenyan authorities have denied us access to their airspace."”

Kenya airspace was closed on the 25th. BA had an exemption for a limited number of flights but suspect that has been removed. I would suggest to your friend they get a
contingency plan in place ASAP in the event this becomes a long stay. Have just been helping some family friends stuck in South Africa in similar circumstances

Many thanks for the quick responses - it does not look promising for the inbound flight then...

According to BA.com, its due to try again at 13:15, so could indeed be a medical.

It won’t take long to re-board the flight with only one customer onboard.

Are you able to share the reason for BA64's return?

I’m guessing that it was because the Kenyan government have refused permission, but that is only my personal opinion.

BA65 looks to be airborne again. Leading to about a 90 min delay in NBO for the inbound. Quite a relief in the end

I believe the pax were offloaded back at LHR and it went again with only the cargo on board and to return people to the UK from Nairobi tomorrow.

I have no way of checking the nationality of the passenger.

At least the solitary passenger can be sure of his/her first meal choice.

Or Kit-Kat bar .....
