New carpet in T5 GF?

It may be another one of those cases where my mind is playing tricks but it seems to me there is a new carpet in T5 GF today - didn’t notice it earlier this week.

If so, the newer/deeper carpet is deadening the sound a bit more and providing a little more friction to roller cases, but it is only in parts of the lounge (so far?).

And if it’s not new, how long have I not noticed it for?

Looks like a half job, assuming the rest to be done another night. As you enter from TFW it is the far end, roughy from the original entrance to the outside terrace.

I don‘t understand why carpets are used. They get so filthy.

In large public spaces like the lounge it makes a huge different acoustically. Basically less noisy.
also there is a proper cleaning solutions for these carpets. I have no idea if BA or Heathrow Airport using it or not.

I hope that BA will be giving GCHs little squares of the old carpet on key rings as a Christmas token of their loyalty

Would also suspect that spills are less dangerous than on a tiled floor. Although parts of the lounge are tiled in the most heavy areas around liquids.

Do we suspect this is the enhancement which was mentioned in threads earlier in the week?

HAL don’t have carpets in the majority of their public spaces anymore - conglomerate (or in some areas laminate) tiles are the norm these days, with laminate and wooden flooring in select areas for specific purposes.
