The monarch, 93, spoke about her first flight on the Concord in 1977 and a 17-hour non-stop journey from Perth to London in 2011. It was for a flight for herself and the Duke of Edinburgh to Monetgo Bay in Jamaica. The Queen also admiringly remembered the 'smooth lines' of Concord from her first flight on it, returning from Barbados in 1977. |

Even daring to mention Wi-Fi in a speech like that is an abomination and makes me cringe. BA has just screwed up the whole thing royally in comparison to their competition. For instance with AY I get free 30 min normal browsing Wi-Fi in business class (not to mention it's 30 min free for AY+ Gold and Platinum, irrespective of cabin) and AY+ Platinum Lumo (the equivalent of BAEC GGL) gets it free with streaming speed for the entire duration of the flight, irrespective of cabin. And AA has had a wide Wi-Fi in their fleet for several years now.

The reason, he believes, is because of the fraught history of the monarchy in Greece, which affected Prince Philip's immediate family. Prince Philip was a baby at the time and rarely returned. It is not completely true that the Queen has never been to Greece - she did go there at the invitation of King Paul, Prince Philip's cousin, in 1950, but that was before she became Queen. Indeed the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has a panel which approves all state visits, called the Royal Visits Committee. "There are always more requests for visits than can be accommodated," says a spokesperson at the FCO, and a trip's foreign policy benefit is a key factor when choosing a location. |
