wIn fairness, the current lounge would have been designed on the basis of there being two 747 services each night - rather than the double daily A380 arrangement that's now in place for the Winter/Summer. Hopefully BA fixes it.

On the one occasion on which the Shongololo Lounge was my airline's designated lounge, I was pretty close to decamping to the BA lounge instead when my flight was called.

Any explanation given? I have a JNB coming up in a couple of weeks. What was/were the issues with the Shongolo lounge as a matter of interest?

Shongololo was:
* loud
* dirty
* hot
* overcrowded
* tiny cramped toilets
* terrible food (breakfast still out at 1930, petrol station type prewrapped sandwiches, watery pasta salad, a couple of sketchy looking curries, no desserts at all)
* near useless wifi (continually dropping)
The only redeeming quality was the shower. Which was large, clean, and had ample hot water with good pressure.

I used the Aspire lounge earlier in the week. I guess it is a comparable alternate to the BA lounge. Shower was good and no queue. Food was ok. Draught beer available at the bar (a lager and an IPA, both 'craft') was a reasonable improvement on BA. It does seem to get very very busy as it serves several airlines.

The International SLOW lounge is significantly nicer than the awful BA offerings that have been closed for refurb. It is mainly used for African regional departures operated by Comair/BA. Hopefully the new BA lounges will be a big improvement

Slow Int. Lounge JNB
Visited two weeks ago.
On the last flight out on the 744. Lounge was standing room only until the departure of the Delta flight. The First Class section restricted to Air France passengers. Great fan of SLOW lounges and once the Delta flight left no problem. Looking forward to the new BA lounge in Feb.
