Mistake announcements

Just came off a flight from Manchester and the first officer thanked us for flying EasyJet. He then appeared outside the flight deck, looking rather sheepish and red-faced. A lot of laughter from passengers as they said goodbye.

I’m sure this group has heard a few amusing announcements, how about sharing them?

Go around at Edinburgh last October. Nervous passengers not helped by First Officer coming on and announcing he had just aborted the landing in Glasgow.

Well, at least it’s appealing for U2 FOs to transition to BA

Had a couple of wrong - and rapidly corrected - destinations announced.

couple of wrong time of day announcements such as “we have arrived at XXX where it is 4 in the morning’ on an afternoon flight!

Back in the early 1990s had a short family break to Tenerife, operated by Caledonian (BA link!).

The trip was around the time of the switch to summer time in the UK and upon landing the flight crew told us the new local time, so everyone set their watches accordingly. However, for the first day or two it seemed as though everything was running on a little more "Siesta time" than normal. Attractions, shops or restaurants would be closed when we'd show up etc.. Then we finally figured out that it was because the time we'd been told by the flight crew upon landing was incorrect and we were 2hrs out. (I can't remember if they said it was one hour behind and we were supposed to be one hour forward)

There was a time when the clocks in the UK went forwards/backwards a week or two before the rest of Europe. Just for extra fun.

Not BA but had an announcement about New Zealand customs played on a Jetstar flight from Melbourne to Hobart a few weeks ago.

Also had a member of cabin crew walking up the plane giving out landing card on a Heathrow-Edinburgh flight.

On the way into RAK, the crew handed out landing cards... for Egypt.

What's more, when I politely pointed this out, the crew member giving them out got in a huff and brought the cabin crew manager over to tell me I was wrong 😶

Quiet satisfaction gained a few minutes later when he came on the PA to apologize that the wrong cards had been loaded at LGW.

As I left the aircraft, he avoided my eye 🙄

So the FO wasn’t mocking his own company in reference to BA’s low cost short haul offering..apart from the ghastly orange, I could see why some might get confused!

Was that after the cabin crew got the buy on board service to all rows before the end of the flight, like on Easy?
