How much more space is BE Diamond going to eat up?

Using the first section of a B772 AA vs BA:

AA: 21 seats https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Am...77-200ER_E.php

BA current config: 32 seats https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Br...777-200B_2.php

Wow. Is BA going to increase fares by 52.4%?

I don't believe that is exactly an apples to apples comparison, but I doubt BA with get the density they have now with the new design. I imagine they'll be hoping to make up the difference with improved yields.

Scroll half way through the page to see the Super Diamond seat.
The Super Diamond seat in the link does have a lot of similarities with the teaser photos including the armrest.

AA have more toilets and galley space Infront of door 2. It's not a fair comparison.

I think part of that is galley location. Air Canada get 26 Super Diamond seats in that space. Question is is the galley in front of door 2 or behind.

The Waterfront seatmap shown in the RWG article shows 28 seats between doors 1 & 2 in a 777. BA currently squeeze maximum of 32 in the same area. So density doesn't seem to much worse.

There’s a prototype of the seat with that pattern from 2016. Probably coincidental.

No. They can make 3 seats per day and none are stockpiled AFAIK. 4-5 years is right, with ‘never’ for the 747 almost certainly and possibly A380 too.

Why ‘never’ for the A380?

I suppose given the rate at which the A380 is to be retired by airlines makes it less likely to be fitted on the A380... though BA does seem to still love its double deckers

Best new feature for business class would be a powerful individual air vent on the seat (not on the roof), placed around same place the reading lights are at. I think the air circulation with the these new seats sucks on pretty much all carriers.

OK. Air Canada is the more appropriate comparison, so it's 26 vs 32. Still 23% more space.

In terms of roll out speed, I tend to believe even if it becomes possible to roll out the new seat faster than this, BA doesn’t want to. The new seat will surely be tactically deployed on routes where it allows BA to charge more at first, why exactly would BA rush to roll this out on routes like Charleston and San Diego where they are the only airline flying directly though? If there’s one thing BA management are, it’s highly commercial, and I think they see that there are routes where this seat will be commercially beneficial and routes where actually it will be more profitable to continue with the current Club World layout for now. They’re not rolling a new seat out because FTers have been asking for it, they’re doing it to make more money!
