Paying in GBP ex Amsterdam

Paying in GBP ex Amsterdam
If I wanted some return flights next year ex Amsterdam but prefer to pay with my BA Amex in GBP to avoid exchange fees can I phone to achieve this and if yes are the exchange rates that BA use EURO to GBP based on reasonable bank rates?

Yes and yes. You will however pay the phone booking fee.

I've tried to pay in GBP ex-Germany once and the agent said there weren't any tickets available in the classes I required. He then started from scratch using GBP (presumably London as selling point now) and the classes I needed re-appeared...
Either way he offered to waive the phone fees though!
