Galley FM on LCY changes post-ORY

I came back to London on the mid-morning ORY-LCY flight yesterday and got chatting about the route demise with the cabin crew - loads ex LCY have been poor for a long time so it was expected the route would go. As slots could not be found for LCY-CDG, it seems a new route (for LCY) to CPH may result.

Pinch of salt, etc.

I really hope so!

Paris always seemed an odd choice from LCY with the Eurostar so close and easy.

another frequency on the new Munich route from LCY would be good - seems a more obvious choice than CPH? Let's see...

There is scope for frequency increases, the CPH run was mooted as once per day and ORY is/soon to be was 3x so even with the above coming true, something else will happen

As someone who tries to fly out of LCY for most of my weekends away I hope it's not LIS! I hate it when more than one airline offers the same route as it limits my destination choices.

Shouldn’t competition help push prices down?

Absolutely. But I'd rather have choice ex-LCY than lower fares. Especially on non-business routes I think LCY prices are capped by the LGW/LHR alternatives.

I used to use the LHR-ORY service frequently and usually in C, when it moved I and several others I know who live to the west wouldn't travel to LCY as the time and hassle was far worse than flying to CDG. As far as I could see the loads were good with C often going to row 10 and Y pretty full. It's a pity it was stopped but no doubt the slots are now used for somewhere like LPA or TFS as BA moves away from serving the needs of business travelers.

Or BA cuts back a little in trying to compete with Eurostar, and their corporate deals for fully flexible business class tickets?

I’d personally like to see a Barcelona service at sensible times for business. Particularly since the service from Gatwick finishes (for this year at least) at the end of March making it Heathrow only on BA.

Personally, I would find a morning SOU–LCY with evening return extremely useful but I am not holding my breath for that one. :-)
