I won’t miss T7, especially the towing to the gate on arrival. I think one A380 per day would do well on LHR-JFK and I hope to see it at T8. We know LHR-JFK is all about frequency and having regular departures. JFK-LHR is not. There is extra demand, I think, for the first morning arrival into LHR from JFK, from business travellers, from tourists who left their New York hotel at 1pm, and from connectors to Europe. |
I’m certainly happy about the move as I connect a lot. Only concern would be if BA has a business class lounge there with their current access rules as then all EXP and Plat would have access even flying domestically. Although I’m sure BA would modify access rules to match AA. i do hope there is a separate CCR/CK lounge above the current FL. |

The elimination of the regional jet gates suggests that the number of non-stop domestic locations served by AA from JFK will be reduced, perhaps substantially, which may limit its connecting value to passengers from the UK. This would be in line with AA's move to push more northeast US connecting traffic through PHL. JFK seems destined to become focused almost entirely on O&D traffic for AA in contrast to Delta and JetBlue which both appear to be committed to keeping JFK as a key connecting hub.... |
I would certainly miss the JFK CCR - best lounge in the network

I was hoping to visit it early March, but my F booking is on the midnight flight so don't expect it to be open, it closes at 10pm right?

Taken from the Governor of NY (Cuomo) website, there is more of same story but possibly a few extra details.
The American Airlines and British Airways investment in Terminal 8 will improve the overall customer experience, with a total of 70,400 square feet of added space including 33,000 square feet of public space. Another 57,500 square feet of existing space will be refurbished. New amenities include premium lounges for both airlines, enhanced baggage systems, premium check-in space and upgraded concessions. https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/gov...4-million-part There will be five additional wide-body gates to allow for more transatlantic flights and four nearby on-airfield plane parking/unloading areas to accommodate the added flights. As a result, passengers will have the increased flexibility of 14 daily flights to London from the same terminal. In other news there is a 10 year capital plan 2017-2026 for NYC, on the PANYJ website, for all major ports (aviation and shipping) public transport etc. Lets hope it all comes to fruition. ^ |

True it’s a high volume route, but would the new 350-1000s be used instead? Although maybe a use for all those cancelled EK planes... |

which part of the article are you actually referring to? Hard to get excited (or not) if no one knows what you mean,
Rather they’re going to increase the number of widebody gates by four, which will be done by adding two gates (by introducing really long jet bridges) ... |
