I'm not sure that putting a teabag in a glass of champagne would brew a very good cup of tea.

Last few flights (one domestic, one Euro) in CE I've had a cuppa and it's been bordering on cold.

I'm mightily miffed, indeed almost peeved.
What a coincidence: I also had a cuppa on a BA short haul flight today (7.10am Lhr to Man) and I thought it was the best tea I’ve had on BA for a long time, it was both piping hot and strong. I did mention to the Purser as I was leaving how much I had enjoyed it and she said “ I know how to make proper builders tea”. To be fair she was very good throughout the 35 mins wheels up to down ......

You might fare better if you ask for a Twinings speciality tea. I usually opt for a peppermint tea towards the end of the flight and receive a mug of hot water with a tea bag. Do they have Twinings Engllsh Breakfast in CE?

Not a fan of Union Coffee then? I quite enjoy it - its pretty decent as far as inflight java goes

Just a guess. But I think they might be talking about the temperature of BA champagne being warmer than the water they use for the tea.

In my Scottish opinion tea should always be made with leaves rather than a tea bag and you aren't going to get that on any aircraft...even a QR one.

I suggest, like me, you stick to the coffee old bean.

CX sometimes serves loose teas in F. I'm not sure if it depends on the type of tea you order, or the particular day/flight.

As a huge fan of the BA forum and the brilliant and witty posts there in, I knew I would get a smile on my “mug” once I clicked to open the thread, and I did. I especially love the Winston Churchill quote. Carry on.

You could just rip the bag open and dump the leaves out.

I had a great cup of tea coming back down from MAN yesterday as well - hot and just the right strength. Maybe the lower cruise altitude allows the water to be hotter?

+1
They have Earl Grey which is as close as it gets (waiting to be shot by a purist!)

I am told that the failure of the LBA routing was primarily down to not stocking Yorkshire Tea...

Was it pre-sweetened? Did it have a rime of ice (British airlines are only allowed a single cube of ice per flight, none at all post-Brexit)? If so, you may have been aloft over Southren 'Merkinland.

I think SQ might as well, but I can confirm CX.
