Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

This is a community-maintained wiki post. Please add important information to it or correct outdated information by clicking the "Edit" button below.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Click here to access that thread.

Please remember to:
  • Convert currencies to GBP, rounding to the nearest pound.
  • Post full routes and full booking classes.
  • Note any restrictions on booking in the Notes section.
  • List in order of price per tier point within the relevant departure area.

Please see the links at the bottom of the wiki for archives of runs from previous years.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

Unfortunately, BA is not one of the supported airlines to book through ITA Matrix. You could use the Powertools extension but it would rebook you to the cheapest fare in your cabin rather than the one you specifically want.
Or sometimes the OTAs via the extension can't even put together the itinerary. Errors no matters which OTA I select. So annoying. I guess if BA can easily do it over the phone, it ain't the end of the world.

For a BA fare, they would be able to book the combination you will when you call the hotline but be aware that all flights should be under the BA code in order to book through them and have BA codeshare availability for BA flights.

I was on the phone for about 20min I think but that was due to the system changing one of the outbound flights (lhr-jfk) to an AA flight code on BA metal. after the third try it accepted the BA flight number.
I have to be honest I have sometimes had to call twice as some reps say they cant get the fare to quote and others have done these more often.
If your struggling ive user propeller travel in the past and they are decent otherwise I tend to use bookwithmatrix.com and that just lets me buy the tiket on the American site.

SOF-LHR-JFK-LAX-HNL-LAX-JFK-HEL-LHR-SOF booked for end of Feb/early March 2021. 10 full days in Hawaii which will be nice, first trip and all. B2B heading out to Sofia, and will check a bag in at T5 (assuming no issues with this, I haven't needed to check anything in for a few years!)
Kept the connections reasonably sensible, enough for a quick shower or two and no sprint between the gates.
24 hour stop in NYC on the way back and a 20 hour stop in HEL for a few more sights to see. As it stands, good aircraft selection. No doubt will change, I wonder if the B744 or A359 will still be operating the legs!

Booked a LHR-SOF-LHR in CE to start and finish for £223.

Originally looked for end of November as a Birthday treat, but cancelled after booking as I suspect that was a little too optimistic.

HNL is pulled or there is an update on the fare. Not available for reservation at the moment.
However, Mainland US or Canada is still available on that fare.

its absolutely legal and absolutely common that fares dont die their natural death but torn from life.

to be clear:
1. not every fare has an expiration date.
2. not every fare is bookable just up to the expiration date but pulled earlier.

Err....where did I say anything about any of that ?

All I was saying is it looks like its been pulled and I'm wondering if that line means expiration date - being 27th(i.e. yesterday)....

Yes, Im a bit miffed that it looks like the fare is no longer bookable for one reason or another - as I had just sat down to book it with my preferred routing - but I do understand - I was just adding in here what I have seen with no real commentary one way or the other......

Hi. The "ticket by" date in the fare rules was 30 April. Tbh they often get pulled early anyway - this one actually lasted quite a while. So far it just looks like Hawaii has been pulled, with mainland US still available. I think anyone still wanting to book should do so now.

TICKETS MUST BE ISSUED ON/BEFORE 30APR 20.

However, an interesting thing would be that "price-matching *A fares" ( LH/UA/AC ) from SOF to HNL is still available.

As are the fares from ARN - though, not so great flight times (at least on the way back - the ones with the available fares leave HNL at 7am ....where as I was looking at an 11pmish flight on AA).

...now I'm conflicted - work have just changed to United as a preferred airline (though, I hardly did any flying anyways - now I think it will be even less!) - and I know next to zilch about the star alliance points programs - other than Lufthansa might be best for European based folks....I had hoped for a holiday and a springboard to Gold with BA Exec club.....but hmmmm......its still pretty decent for a Hawaii trip despite losing a day because of a badly timed flight.....

Lufthansa is one of the hardest *G statuses' to achieve.
Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles and Aegean Miles&Bonus are the easiest. TAP Portugal Miles&Go would also be a good option if you continuously fly Business Class with *A.

By the way, for ARN departures, Delta has evening departures from Hawaii that are available if the day missing thing is yours concern. The fare is also valid on Skyteam. Currently, oneworld is the only one who pulled this fare.
