Which aircraft normally fly to San Diego
Hi all, I see the 747s are currently flying LHR-SAN return but it looks like it has been 777s, is there normally a summer/winter change? I am right in thinking that the airport and runway is too small for an A380?
If you only had blue status and had to pay about £400 for CW seat reservations to guarantee facing seats for a couple at booking, which seats would you choose?

I'd spend those £400 wisely and get myself to SILVER for free seats for up to two years
Have a nosey on the main Club World seating thread also

Unfortunately my employer has cut travel to other sites so I tend just to be a leisure traveller now. I did get to Bronze after last American holiday and work trips south but didnt fly enough to keep it

747 in Winter and 777 in Summer I believe, Have been on both to SAN, and I think the 747 does well to stop on the runway due to the length and steepish descent needed from over Balboa Park.
I'd be after anything on the UD 747 for a couple, we did the middle seats in the 777 earlier this month, perfectly ok, but I do like the UD, even with the worse IFE, just take a laptop / tablet.

I was on the SAN 777 earlier this week - as per endoman, would endorse the 747 UD with some back up entertainment recommendation

San Diego last winter was predominantly in the Super Hi J 747s which have the newer and far superior Panasonic IFE than the 777-300 which has the Thales system which operates in the summer. Also 10 of the mid J 747s are also getting the Panasonic system too, so you should be good for IFE options on that route.

Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like it will probably be a 747 for Nov 2019. I now just have to wait until the flights up to 21 Nov 2019 go on sale at some point early in the new year and try to get a CW return EDI-SAN bargain
