Air Italy (ex Meridiana), BA GCHs and priority boarding

Just boarded IG186 to OLB (which codeshares with BA) and - unless I misheard the announcement - they listed BA GCH among the ones who had right to board first.

I wasn’t aware of the benefit. Does anyone know if it’s actually a thing?

I’m flying back with BA. At least the food will be better and the aircraft will look fresher and more spacious. Row 1 (which was actually row 2) felt incredibly cramped on the 737.

I just wish it wasn’t back to LHR.

Yes the IG operated flights LGW - OLB and return also codeshare with BA. You are able to purchase flights using this service on ba.com featuring a BA flight number in Business and Economy. These give you Avios and tier points. In addition as with other codeshares on non-one world carriers, GCH are able to access the BA lounges at LGW regardless of cabin booked. IG booked tickets with a IG prefixed flight number may have different rules in effect with regards to Avios, tier points and lounge access via BA status.

Obviously earning Avios and TPs under a code share is not specific to IG, as if applies to any airline.

The lounge benefit does not at apply at LGW as BA and IG operate from different terminals.

Just checked the seatmap. 14 rows of CE! Not looking forward to that either! At least I’m in 1A!
