2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan – Avios Edition.
“He who fails to plan is planning to fail" …Winston Churchill.
I hope if we can create this thread, and concentrate on Japan 2019.
And list any tips and tricks aimed especially at travel for the Rugby World Cup in Japan.
Like a mini guide if you will.
As Japan is a popular route, getting Club world seats with Avios might be difficult.
thank you...
Thanks.

I probably will not have enough Avios to outright buy 2 x CW seats
So I will try and get 2 with UuA.
But, I understand how UuA works, I just can't figure out how much will I need?
Can somebody please explain, if I were to buy a WT+ ticket, what will I need to upgrade?
Also, what type of WT+ ticket do I need to get to qualify for the upgrade?
Thanks.

All WT+ tickets are eligible for Avios Upgrade - however you're very unlikely to have success. On the day they are released - you'll not be able to buy the return WT+ you want (as the return won't be on sale!) so someone else will likely grab the two straight reward seats.
Perhaps have a good read through :

All WT+ tickets on BA metal and BA marketed qualify for UuA.
The cost would be 36 000 Avios off peak, 30 000 Avios on peak for one way for WT+ --> CW, as LHR-HND is just shy of 6 000 miles

I'm hoping to be there with a mate of mine. Our first option is a 2-4-1 + GUF2 hopefully to First (probably fat chance, but one has to have hope!), our second option is for me to get to GGL by the end of the year and then use a joker

And hope that by the time you get there that the other GGLs haven't got to those flights first

Ahhh, but what we're looking at is a Avios 241 + GUF2 combo = BA metal only, which significantly reduces routing possibility. If we were travelling under our own £ then we'd probably go AMS-LGW-JER-LGW-LHR-JFK-LAX-PHL-ORD-TYO (waits for someone to tell me this an inefficient earning route!)
