Rhod Gilbert has been with the BA Cabin Crew this week as part of his "Work Experience". It has some information about the training the crew receive.

I've enjoyed all of his work experiences. I hope he finally finds something he feels suited for .

Wow, I really enjoyed that.
One thing I liked was seeing the trainers go from 'professional face' to having a laugh with Rhod. It was very funny at times.
I sometimes feel on flights that I want to break down that barrier with crew. 'Tell me all the gossip from the bar last night,' is what I want to ask.
I did notice that the cheap seats were often shown as Premium Economy.

What I thought was interesting was his observation that it is important that the seemingly silly details of something like the meal service are perfect - because it reassures passengers that the crew are similarly competent and polished in other more important aspects of their work, such as safety. It is exactly this which bothers me about some crews, particularly Mixed Fleet.Their level of unfamiliarity with meal services is often quite remarkable. My parents, who fly about twice a year max, picked this up on their YYZ to LHR flight last night, with my Mum (a nervous flyer) noting the crews lack of familiarity with the meal service and going on to say they seemed very inexperienced - not very reassuring for her.
Good programme though.

I think Rhod summarised it quite perfectly on the training for the emergency slide. About to do something so fun but in real life you wouldn’t ever want to be in a position of having to deal with it.

Well written, interesting and funny. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
For those who have not heard of Rhod I recommend you check out his airline related "Luggage" story on YouTube.
