Avios on Cathay Pacific from YYZ?

Anybody able to give me directions on how to find flights and use Avios for flights on Cathay Pacific from YYZ (going to Hanoi)?

My advice is search for both legs separately, so look for the YYZ-HKG flight, then see if there's a HKG-HAN flight available for you to connect on. Once you find the pair, try booking them together, if that fails, phone up ba and book it over the phone. I think there might be an issue in that HAN is Cathay Dragon but if it causes a problem booking it together, just phone up.

I've taken the YYZ-HKG flight a few times and it's painfully long so if your unable to find some flights that can connect, maybe think about a 24hr layover.

I tried that Calum but Executive Club isn't giving me any Cathay Pacific options even for the single leg to HKG.

Flying out then is gonna be your problem, the nearest available reward date with YYZ-HKG direct is the 8th of Jan 2019. If you need to travel on exact dates, reward flights probably won't work especially that time of year. You can go via TPE for C$1200 or via HKG on Cathay for C$1600.

How are you searching that? Is that a normal Executive Club spend Avios search?

For reward flights, just a normal avios search but the best rule of thumb is look for each flight individually, if you can find the ones you want then book them together.

For cash flights, here's a link

Also, don't forget the other CX cities in the NE: JFK EWR, etc. Even ORD is a short haul flight away, and sometimes you can find addl capacity on those.

Thanks Kelly and Banking_Scot

Anybody tried using "Book with Money and Upgrade with Avios" on Cathay Pacific or do you have to find availability in business then phone BA to book Premium Economy and Upgrade?

Book with Money and Upgrade with Avios only works on BA operated flights with BA flight numbers.
