Just about made it, having landed 15 minutes late, and despite parking on a stand adjacent to the A350, bus-ing all the way to the other end of the airport, and then walking all the way back!

On any other occasion, I would gladly take the compensation, but my schedule this week is already looking rather heavy! Hope she gets what she wants next week: be it landing on time, or some more compensation!

My AMS to LHR today was cancelled, but I received notification yesterday by email and SMS and was auto rebooked on an earlier flight, which, funnily enough, was delayed, such that I arrived pretty much exactly when I was originally scheduled to do. I imagine that having status might have helped me, but overall I was impressed with the whole process.

Given that in my experience AMS flights are pretty full on Sundays I can imagine that the cancellations today will have caused a fair bit of disruption, with some passengers very inconvenienced, but it was ok for me.

Glad to hear you made it to Back to LHR. Flights are still taking off from LHR as we speak. I can hear them as I live under flight path. Although it’s probably past the curfew.

Hope all get away to their destinations safely tonight albeit major delays. 😒

She was on her way back to LHR and was delayed out of BKK. But guess what was used to part pay the current ticket

Can anyone advise how I can find out how many flights BA would have had departing on Sunday 18th March from Gatwick in total ?

It's between 70 and 75 per the schedule excluding codeshares and charters. So long as you do it today, the information is still on BA.com if you want a precise number but it would involve a lot of queries. Quick link is:

We had two trucks working the port side wing and I presume another two working starboard. The actual deicing process took about 25-30 minutes but couldn't begin until the intakes of each off the four engines had been swept clear of snow.

The sequence was really impressive to watch

My AMS to LHR was cancelled too but instead of rebooking me earlier, they rebooking me on the same flight 24 hours later!! I arrived 24 hours late in Seattle, was provided no duty of care, tried to call the call center dozens of times, all down...
I am not too happy how this was handled. I understand this is extreme weather or whatever, but would except at least some form of communication.

Assuming you booked a hotel and had meals, just send the receipts to BA and they are obliged to refund you.
