No Avios or TP from Qantas booking

Recently took a flight from MEL to SYD with Qantas as a oneworld emerald, in Economy, purchased directly through the Qantas website - shows up in my recent transactions as “Melbourne International - Sydney (Y/E)” but has credited with zero TP or Avios as if it were a reward booking. Is this correct? From memory E is a premium economy fare bucket so has this caused an error here?

E class on QF does not earn anything, alas. You need to book into a higher class to earn on QF

No, E class on QF is the lowest discounted economy class. Even Q and O classes (the next lowest) earn in BAEC, but E class does not.

This has been the case ever since QF started using E class in this way, so there is no error - and that was confirmed by BAEC at the time. For a while, it was irritating when some E class fares were more expensive than some O class fares. However, I have not seen this happen for some time now.

One of the reasons for that last observation is that if E class is available on a QF short-haul flight, then it is very often the case that X class (economy award) is also available. At 4,500 Avios + £10.20 for MEL-SYD, this can be better value than buying a (non-earning in BAEC) E class fare. My main reason for buying E class fares, when I do, is to keep my stash of QF miles alive by throwing the earning into my QFFF account instead of BAEC.
