I booked using a company called Black Cab www.blackcab.ro It was all done online, both drivers spoke very good English, I got texts telling me my car had arrived, registration and driver's name. As a solo female traveller it all felt very safe. I was 30 min past the arranged pick up (thank you BA priority luggage!) but I wasn't charged any extra. The driver met me in arrivals.

I stayed at the HGI in the Old Town, the fare out was 106 Leu and the return 75, (approx £35 return) that was for up to 3 people and luggage. The only thing to be aware of is that rush hour in Bucharest is hectic, it took over an hour to get to the hotel but only 20-25 min going back.

We did plane doors to gate in 7 minutes so didn’t quite beat the record of 6 minutes.


“Now, this is where things didn’t quite go as I intended. I was meant to be looking for the transfer option for the B2B that I am doing next week. I didn’t see anything (partly because I wasn’t really looking!) and before I knew it I was up the stairs and facing a passport check. A short stroll and I was out into the arrivals hall at the airport. On returning to the airport for the return flight, I did have a look around but couldn’t really see anything. Rather strangely the arrivals hall was busy with shops and what has more the appearance of a departure lounge. A quick look did not reveal any signs for transfers or connections. This also appeared to be a mixed area as there were clearly people drivers with signs waiting for arriving passengers. From here you go through customs and put airside. (Question - is this the domestic terminal hence why they were mixed rather than the international part?)”

I was on BA177 on 30/03 and I think this was one of the older 747s. First was fine, service was great, my IFE went a bit haywire and CC had to keep resetting it so I ended up watching the film in instalments but they gave me 20k Avios as compensation so I'm very happy with that!
