Normally, neither would I - total waste of money. But the run leaves me 80 points short of Gold.

So "upgrading" the return to CE seems the cheapest/easiest way to do that.

I'm coming in on BA884 on the 23rd, so won't arrive at OTP until 00:15. Wouldn't want to disturb you if you arrived earlier.

I did go for the overnight stay in the end - more so I could keep open the option of using checked baggage - as I am combining this run with a holiday.

Could end up using HBO anyway, but needed to book the tickets, so went with the option that gave me maximum flexibility.

The Rin Hotel is also walkable about 20 mins which I did at midnight 18 months ago when I had just missed the transfer bus by 10 mins

For the benefit of others (and I am guilty of this as well) I may look later on to add the BA flight number for those who are booked on AA codeshares. This may make it easier for other to identify when people are traveling on the same flights.

Do you think it would also be helpful to put the non- "mini-do" schedules in date order, say using the first outbound sector?

... this is rookie question, but I'm thinking of squeezing in another OTP-PHX-OTP run this summer. However, I will probably look to drop the last leg (LHR-OTP). Has anyone experienced any problems with AA when this is done ? I realise I will lose the last 80 TPs but I just don't have the time to get out and back from OTP at the end. I will use Avios to position in the first place.

p.s. also, I finally got PowerTools to work (using Firefox instead of Chrome). Seems OK other than I can't force it to head to AA's UK website. I've tried the obvious settings. Anyone else had this problem ?

I had the same problem - unfortunately not the solution

But I did have a Hold on the booking, so had a reference number which which I could call AA - they put me through to "web support" who said "Oh, you used Google Flights" and then did some trickery in the background - repriced it in GBP, took my credit card details over the phone and processed it. Pretty hassle free, took about 10 minutes - seems like they've done it a few times before.

Having dropped the last leg of AA 001 tickets many times, I've never had any problems at all. Of course, as you note, you won't get the TPs for the sectors you do not fly.

Thanks guys, Will apply your collective knowledge/tips. Definitely HBO. I never ever check bags ... in the old days didn't check a bag even for 2/3 week business trips (when you could expense hotel laundry bills). Mind the (almost) annual family pilgrimage to see Mickey is the obvious exception. Global Entry, HBO and (close to) first off makes all the difference to TP Running.
