Price creep is probably just exchange rate effects, probably nothing to worry about in the grand scheme of things.

Not the best deal but worked for me getting to Seoul:

BRU-LHR-HND-GMP/ICN-LHR-BRU - £1573
40+160+40+140+40 = 420

Fantastic ex-LON midweek fares to West Coast for around £1,500. East Coast also around £1,300.

Available on non-stop TATLs only, seems to include most/all BA US and Canada stations including YVR. UK domestic connections also included. LAX appears to be slightly higher than the rest.

Example below - fare basis ILX5C7M4 - has following date restrictions, but similar pricing available on other limited dates too.

FROM UNITED KINGDOM -
PERMITTED 28OCT 18 THROUGH 11DEC 18 OR 24DEC 18 THROUGH
31DEC 18 OR 01JAN 19 THROUGH 02JAN 19 OR 15FEB 19
THROUGH 29MAR 19 OR 27OCT 19 THROUGH 12DEC 19 OR
24DEC 19 THROUGH 31DEC 19 FOR EACH TRANSATLANTIC SECTOR.
TO UNITED KINGDOM -
PERMITTED 29OCT 18 THROUGH 31DEC 18 OR 20FEB 19 THROUGH
06APR 19 OR 29OCT 19 THROUGH 31DEC 19 FOR EACH
TRANSATLANTIC SECTOR.

Not sure about the fare code but those prices re NA have been around on ba.com 'find our cheapest flights' for quite a few weeks if not longer. I'm sure they were posted somewhere on FT but I can't recall which thread and they were on headforpoints too.

Ah yes, on reflection I must have read that HfP article but not looked properly at the fares. Only really noticed today when looking for a colleague.

Good prices as you say direct from London.

In my humble opinion it's very much worth checking ba.com direct sometimes for UK deals which are not advertised but just 'sit' there. I got what I thought was a good deal OSL-LHR-LAX in paid F and back in WTP (UuA to CW) for £1220 ish in January. HfP is worth a daily quick read even for the headlines.

Wide open in 2019, £100-200 extra for 2018 but still wide open.

Almost, but not quite. INV has its standard lower fares in force earlier, when London is 2400+. The fares above exLON need to be booked six months in advance, hence the "wide open in 2019" and indeed in late 2018 for the 1.1k fares. If you go end of November instead of December, INV is around 1.3k to select East Coast destinations, but the fare jumps significantly if you try to go to SFO, say.
