exAMS Advanced Purchase Fare INCEU60 to BKK

Some information below on this advanced purchase exAMS fare to BKK. At £1,340 this can be a cheap way to get to all Far East destinations. Also AMS is fool proof for back to backs.

Permitted routings are:
1. AMS-LON-BKK
2. AMS-LON-HKG-CX/HX/RJ-BKK
3. AMS-LON-KUL-BA/MH/RJ-BKK
4. AMS-LON-SIN-3K/CX-BKK

Both LHR to SIN and KUL earn 160 TP in J, LHR-HKG is just 140 TP. Be careful if going to KUL as you may be routed on MH to BKK in I class which earns no TPs or avios.

Any idea why MH I class KUL-BKK has zero TPs? All their other classes earn TPs. It looks like RJ earns 40TPs in I on that route.

No idea, but it's been like that for ages, MH I doesn't earn, simple as that. MH uses Z class for it's own 'sales' for business class, which earns as normal.

Thanks for the background.

So, Routing 3 using MH has 80TPs less than RJ, but the fare with RJ is an extra £65 (ex AMS 3 April). Routing 4 has the higher TPs, is £55 cheaper but doesn't have a same day connecting flight to BKK. Such is the fun of using IT Matrix.

I prefer the AMS-LHR-HKG-BKK-SIN-LHR-AMS routing as it's flexible on connections and earns good amount.

Yes, routing through SIN rather than KUL puts you on Cathay Pacific - going on that with the family in September. 420 TP.

A hat tip to this thread and those who have contributed. I’m doing OTP-LHR-JFK-LAX-PHX and return at the start of April. BA747 UD for both TATLs and flat beds both ways between JFK and LAX. This only requires a Friday and Monday off work so it’s a shame I can’t do it over Easter weekend itself!

This gets 800TPs for £1315 so £1.64 per TP, which isn't as good as other options but is the best I can find for comfort and speed.

Not for £1300 (or £1500via HEL). To get those fares both of the transatlantic legs need to be between the dates shown in the excellent post above by rossmacd.

I'm really bad at Matrix - is anyone able to show me how to recreate option 2 or 3? Many thanks!

Put AMS in origin, BKK in destination, click on 'Advanced controls' just underneath the Destination box, add: BA LHR BA SIN CX into the outbound routing codes, and add: CX SIN BA LHR BA into return routing codes, then choose your dates and select currency GBP and cabin Business class

Cool, instead of using just CX and BA in route specifications, you can substitute for actual flight numbers you want, eg BA LHR BA11 SIN CX would route you on A380 to SIN

Is the best deal for going west at the moment INV-ORD for £1300ish?

I need to be in LAS next September to OTP-PHX won't work for me, and I need to return from the East Coast.

I could make ORD work, but ideally I'd like a flight to LAS/LAX or PHX at a push, and a return from an actual East Coast airport.

Anything I've missed?

Are you sure?

TP collection years normally end on the 8th of the month with status (lounge etc) good to the end of the following month. AIUI your other half's TP collection year ends in 3 days. (I hope I'm wrong.)

Woohoo just booked LHR-MAD-SVQ for £716 for 3 people, minus £200 amex offer. Only 50 TP left to gold, thanks FTers!!!

Still available on other flights that day for £221.

787/A340 combo should also still be available on other dates too: https://www.google.co.uk/flights/#fl...040*.GBP.22040

This looks good for 160 points (if my maths is right). Better to book with BA or IB?
