Will BA recognise status before flights

I have enough BA tier points to become silver, but I'm still blue as I have taken no BA flights.

I now have BA flights booked, is there a way to get BA to assign me status (at least to Bronze) on basis of issued tickets?

If not, how long after the flights does it usually take until the status is updated?

No way to get the status acknowledged based on booked travel.

Usually takes about two days for the flights and tier points to post, then another day or maybe two where you have the required tier points and flights but your status updates in the next batch job.

No.
You will have to have flown the qualifying flights before you achieve status.
BA will not update your status on future bookings unfortunately.

No. The same applies if you have flown the flights. Until they are credited and your BAEC account is updated to reflect your status change, you're stuck with your current status.

Call them. I was promoted to Gold based on booked flights. While this was ages ago (so no guarantee that they would still do it) It is possible.

Seems a bit strange that they would do this - what if you maximise the use of Gold and then cancel the flights (or don't fly them, if they are non-refundable).

There are always exceptions but we don't know if this particular poster was part of a corporate deal or how long ago it was or what their other flight history was or if there was some sort of status match involved.

I can see BA doing this years ago but much less likely these days.

Phone up and ask, the worst thing that can happen is they say no.

Will they at least on the phone honour the status after the flights before the sytem has updated?
For example I would like to reserve seats for a upcoming flight 3 days later.

I would doubt it, until the status is updated fully. BA is not a flexible, customer oriented airline any longer.

I'd be surprised if the call centre people can see your new status.
