At the start of the winter season, the number of B77Ws with Club Suites will be...zero, therefore your chance of getting CS will be 0%.

At the end of the winter season, the number of B77Ws with Club Suites will be..four, or five...maybe...out of 12.

Everyone dancing around because their seat map shows Club Suites 11 months in advance should temper their expectations.

Not quite. There are 4 new 77W deliveries this year. Two Q3 2020 and two Q4 2020. So there will be some at start of Winter season. Also three due for refit by year end.

So 7/16 will have CS by 31 Dec 2020.

And as you say with the refits that makes 9/16 by end of Winter Season. Very decent odds by then.

Good point.

It's not just pure odds though, the 76J version will be a huge step up in capacity for MLE.

Of course. But still a good sign. I do agree JFK for example, among others, might get the priority initially with the 747s going.

I certainly wouldn't expect a switch whereby Y goes from 252 to 130

I imagine the aircraft is not yet finalised

The Maldives are not high up on my bucket list but out of curiosity looked at some prices for holidays next winter. Wow, they are rich and should be very profitable for BA.

Indeed - it's definitely a route in place for offshore bankers, more so than tourism. Although being an island territory, there will also be historical ties as to why it is served.

Pretty sure the Bermudan government pays for the flight’s continued operation - hence why it tends to run a minimum number of rotations a week even in disruption and when it has naff all customers on board. This plus the ridiculously low number of connections explains why it’s out at Gatwick.

I believe MLE is planned to operate on the brand new 77Ws being delivered this year. The route will be initially shared with JFK for these shiny aircraft (in super-high config, probably the furthest back CW has ever gone on an aircraft!)

Searching BA’s website, I cannot see a formal announcement of this route change. Have I missed something?

Yes, they will be 3-4-3 in Y as per the refurbished 777-200ERs.

Technically no, as you can’t densify something that never had a wider original config.
In non-pedant land, however, yes they will be delivered with the new 10-abreast seating.
