Ba Codeshare Ay metal seat allocation
Good evening all
I've booked our usual TYO flight to see our daughter. Due to availability and pricing, we are routing via HEL on the AY A350 for a change, not to mention a nearly £2k saving!
When I try to reserve a seat, 125 BA stock ticket, the BA website sends me to AY as the operating carrier. When I get on the AY website they advise they can't sell a seat as the flight is not operated by AY!
I'm BA Gold so they don't need to "sell" the seat reservation, but is there a way around this? I do like a window no matter what time of day/night it is.

I have always just called Finnair and they have been delighted to make the seat reservation for me. Dare I say the average AY agent is almost as helpful as a member of the GGL team !!
