1A & 1K on the Jumbo
As a relatively new gold card holder I wanted to use the perk to snag these seats on my next first booking to LAS.
Just booked the flights and both are available yet when I select I was told there was a problem and to call.
Upon speaking with BA I'm being told that I can only reserve either 1A or 1K as my wife is Silver and therefore it's not a privilidge for her.
Is this right? And if it isn't whats the best plan of action?

Yes, each passenger needs to be a GCH to reserve a seat in row 1 on any aircraft, that's my understanding.
Either pick 1A/K and 2A/K is the next best bet. Then see if the other one of 1A/K opens up at -72Hrs.

When this has happened to me, I've been able to get the other one either at 72 or 48 hours. Perhaps a more experienced FTer can provide a definitive answer!

We are going for 1A/2A on our trip to Washington at the end of the month as GCH and SCH as it is my understanding (although this may not be the case) that the buddy seat in Row 1 is smaller than the others and therefore not as conducive to diner-a-deux.
On the way back it is 4E/F and the cabin on EF is full with F0 A0 so a busy flight up front.

Buddy seat 1A/K isn't ideal for a longer dinner unless top ups are frequent as you can live with the somewhat uncomfortable arrangement.
But not much beats the feeling of dining tete a tete in row 1 of 747 high in the sky.

I am OWE.
They wouldn't let me book my GF's seat into Row 1 so we took the middle seats (Row 5) on our LHR-PHX flight two weeks ago.
However, 3 days before the flight ba.com let us choose 1A for me and 1K for her, as those were still available. So, Yes....they will let you pick them at T-72.
Her first time in First....and we had a blast.
