I seem to think this release of extra seats happened last year so not sure it is related to the recent problems or meant to be part of an apology.

And in line with Flyertalk's policy on external links, here's a summary:

Sadly we are already away in CW, on a 2-4-1, for most of that period. It would be fair, I think, to allow iWife time to do the previous trip's laundry before jetting off again
Good luck to those who can take advantage of the offer (just had the email myself), and if BA was inclined to do similar in Feb/Mar/Apr they might well squeeze some more money out of me.

We've added an extra 10,000 reward seats in Club World
"More reward seats now available
We've added an extra 10,000 reward seats in Club World across our network. Travel between 18 December 2017 and 5 January 2018"
Was hoping for more of a promo than just extra availability.

Only problem I got with the dates these seats are release for? Each time I have booked in that range, BA ended up canceling 1 or 2 of the flights due to their Xmas shutdown.

I think many of the Christmas period timetable reductions are already in the system tbh.

And the benefit of a re-route / change due to itinerary change is you get seats on a flight that might not have otherwise had Reward availability. I had a convoluted HNL run with one leg in First to JFK - when re routed got First to LAX, made a far more comfortable journey and got original TP crediting afterwards

Singapore didn't seem to benefit from this at all - last time there were a lot of seats added when this happened.
I noticed they are cutting the A380 for a few days over Xmas which presumably is tightening availability generally over this period
