BA getting into Politics? May Highlife magazine

Former candidate for Labour leader, former Labour MP (son of commited Marxist and brother of Ed "the Red" Milliband) on the cover of the May issue of Highlife magazine.
One month before a general election. Brave decision by BA.

If my (tiny) knowledge of magazine production cycles is anything to go by, then the magazine was likely produced before we knew there was going to be an election.

emphasis on the word FORMER. He's not been an MP for over four years nor politically active in the uk either.

not sure what his fathers and brothers views have to do with the price of fish other than to stir the pot.

CCHQ may take a different view.

I agree, the magazine will have been written and printed well ahead of the GE announcement.

In any case, the article is not very political, mainly talking about his life in the states.

So what?

There is no embargo on publishing interviews with people who were MPs over 4 years ago, and as noted the substance of the interview didn't relate to current UK politics anyway.

I'm guessing they don't particularly care otherwise they'd have made an issue of it before now.

Agreed. Even with the election, I don't see that it's controversial.

Incidentally it's also featured in the South African edition.

Unusually, I did actually read the article which I don't recall making any mention of the election. That strongly suggests it was all done prior to the announcement.

Pretty dull self-promoting dross but with some photoshoot poses which make me smile.

Kinda ironic that BA still peddles The Mail as is predominant free paper...

The terms you choose to describe David Miliband leave no doubt as to your own political affiliations, which isn't necessarily a good thing on a non-political forum.

I read the article, and didn't notice anything particularly political in it. (I didn't even think twice about it until I saw this thread). David Miliband gave up UK politics a long time ago and has a completely new career.

Utter nonsense.

A non-candidate, in an election that no one could have foreseen when the magazine went to print. Anyone who latches onto that as political expression is dreaming in Technicolor (tm).

It amused me (that and the Ken Loach piece) coming when it did. I did not expect Alex Cruz to be hauled off to the tower. It was meant to be slightly tonge in cheek.

I think the choice of newspapers available on board is a much bigger political statement than this interview!
