F to Mumbai and return

Hi all,
I spotted a thread aeons ago regarding First class procedures at Mumbai airport but despite googling cannot find it again.
if anybody can help would be very grateful.
Have also been perusing First class forum etc but would welcome any tips apart from Rose champagne and trying to book your massage etc.
Look forward to hearing the distilled wisdom of First/Mumbai passengers.

THANKS

BA Elite/CW/F pax check-in at a dedicated area with sofas and mints while they do the paperwork. Mumbai BA staff are the best I've seen on BA network.

Fast track security and immigration. You get invitation cards for the GVK First lounge at check-in - which is a dedicated section of the lounge on the main level.
Its usually quiet for the afternoon BA 198 service - a bit packed for BA 138/morning service as its a shared lounge. It's a la carte dining - great food and drinks. You can book one free 30 minute massage(cannot be pre-booked and usually you can get an appointment within 30 minutes) Back massage is intense - some people cannot take it!

BA is operating the 787 now one the morning service from Mumbai.

Acid has pretty much covered it, anything else in particular you'd like to know?

Yes would concur with what said above. The BA check in desks and especially the elite sofas are the first door as your drive up to the airport. Airport is generally quiet for afternoon service.I was only one at fast track last week and one of half a dozen in the lounge. Service in first lounge is great. Moët champagne I believe if you sit in dining room. Really nice dining area and food is solid. Attached is Terrible photo of the dining room from quite a few months back.

I would not describe the massages as intense but rather just pretty basic and unskilled (not in any way comparable to India's better hotel spas). The GVK First section is ok, not a place Id purposely want to spend even two hours in. If traveling in F (or J for that matter) BOM is very easy airport to arrive/depart from.

I agree with everything Acid says about check in and the lounge.

In the past we have been escorted from check in through immigration to the GVK lounge, but not on the occasion below, possibly because we had confirmed to check in staff that we knew where the lounge was.

We passed through the First section of the GVK First lounge at the end of January to catch the early morning BA138. We arrived at the lounge at 23.50 to be told that with effect from Midnight (ie then 10 minutes time) alcohol would cease to be served as the following day was a "dry" day to commemorate the assassination of Ghandi.

The barman did serve both Mrs GL2 and I with the most enormous glasses of wine, sufficient to see us through to the time to depart for the Gate.
On subsequent investigation, it appears that there are a number of dry days across India, to be factored into future travel plans!

I treat that as a race when I'm alone (pass as many people as possible) or just grab one of the golf carts if we have the kids with us.

But to the subject at hand - everything I've seen is right. Very nice check in area, even for lowly WT+ silvers.

Many thanks for your replies.
We are flying out ex LHR on Thursday 20th on evening flight which appears to be not the 787 and returning ex cruise on 12 May on lunchtime flight.
It appears we will have better handling at Mumbai than LHR can offer but looking forward to the First experience.
Thanks to all who took time to reply.

The Heathrow experience is fine and you have the recent improvement of the new first fast track area

No transfer security on domestic arrivals, but the magic white door is now closed, so stay on the main deck of T5 and walk across to the South lounge complex. Up the escalators and into the CCR.
