Brain of BAEC 2017

Given the love of pedantry and useless information on this board I am going to launch the Brain of BAEC. Loosely based on Radio 4s Brain of Britain it is open to anyone honest enough not to Google the answers. Conferring is allowed and all aspects of the question relate in some way to British Airways.

All aspects of the question must be addressed

Nice easy one to start

Q. What Repo man connects Dennis Fire Engines, the takeover of British Caledonian, and an Estate in Leicestershire and an Irish Seamstress?

Yes but you need to explain how they are all connected.

Dennis Fire Engines - John King was chairman in the early 1970s
Estate in Leicestershire - Friars Well, Wartnaby. King's country estate

This is where I'd normally reach for the interwebs but in the spirit of the game I'd guess that the Irish seamstress was King's mother. I vaguely recall he had humble beginnings.

Yes, and he also as boss of BA, led the takeover of BCAL. His mother was Irish.

I suspect that this is going to be a thread for folk who all have far too much time on their hands! Although, I guess that's the connection to Radio 4 - the radio station you tune into before you die!

I am a regular listener to Radio 4 and have been for many years. It's far better than the tripe produced by the other stations.

And it's based on the Round Britain Quiz, not Brain of Britain.

Liking it so far. 👍👍

Finally, I have come up with another one (which borrows lightly from HIGNFY this time)

Aside from the obvious, what BA connection makes one of these the odd one out and why?

Although with your handle you may be proving gms's point (and I say this as a radio 4 listener!)

It's number two: the British Airways High Life shop has never sold a die-cast BA-branded model of Kate Winslet.

If you can direct me to the BA branded die-cast model of the other three others you may have won yourself some points...

You can’t get a tango on a BA flight. But you can watch the rest on HLE?
