This thread is relates to the temporary lounge facilities for LGW South. At the time of writing there are three lounges open, the two permanent lounges for First and Club, linked immediately below, and the temporary Speedbird lounge, which is handled in this thread. The Clubrooms facility referenced below has now ended.

Details on the new BA First Lounge can be found here:http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...-february.html

Details on the new BA Club Lounge can be found here:http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ub-lounge.html

Temporary access directions for the new lounge can be found by clicking here.

Only if you're going to Jersey. All other CE pax will be in Speedbird, unless they're Gold.

On that basis the lounge won't open before 2024!

Meanwhile the new VS LGW CH looks fabulous and has extensive F&B offerings fitting for a premium carrier.

Let's see how good the BA lounges compare when they resolve the embarrassing cock-up.

Well, LGW is the red headed stepchild of the BA network, with the lounges being shut for nearly a year already and PP alternatives...

I was keen on the OAK route, and then saw it was from LGW and binned that...

I read it as 'status heavy'.

'Farce' fits better into a headline, tweet etc :-) 'Very disappointing' does not really cut it!

And come on, 15 months - we are already 2 months behind the original move date remember - and we still end up here?

Note that all of the signage etc clearly took some time to construct so this situation must have been known for at least a week I'd guess.

We're still in a better situation than last week, at least BA now has a dedicated lounge, even if it is just a leftover from VS.

The contingency plans looked well organised looking at all the pictures c-w-s has posted up.

A farce would have been having no lounge facilities available - maybe give customers nothing (like at LCY) or a voucher.

Building projects overrun, look at the CX lounge! BA have handled this a lot better than I'd expect of them lately.

Well I must say the new landside check-in areas look far superior to previous arrangements in the North terminal having now actually seen them; impressive and worth the wait.

Fingers crossed for the lounges opening in a timely fashion, and would love to see the Jolly Gingers implemented into the snack specification on a long term basis

Thanks very much for posting this, which relates to the proper lounges when they finally open. I've put in what I think are the correct times for No. 1 Clubrooms and Speedbird Lounge (it would have been nice if that was the title of the new lounge, but never mind), but there is a bit of confusion about this on day 1, so it may need revision.

However, I'm highlighting the bold section for the First lounge. Now, it's not brilliant for the early departures, though the Club lounge is open for all reasonable times for LGW's departures. There is usually a summer early flight to Nice before 07:00 hrs, for example. In winter there are only a few flights before 07:30. But the really excellent news is that we now see the end of the First lounge closing at 15 hrs, which was a total nuisance.

Very much agreed, corporate-wage-slave, although 'total nuisance' was not quite the expression I used...

And - I'm with Raffles on this one, 'farce' is what it is. All BA had to do was put out a press release warning of the delay and people would at least have known what to expect. But they couldn't be bothered - or didn't want to admit to it until the last possible moment.
