2017 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2017 or earlier if you have a 2018 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #418

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

Just got offered a POUG for BA2770/2771 on a B2B in July 2018( Wednesday ) on the LGW-JER route for £79 each way. Not sure if I should take it or not or should hope for a op-up , is it usual for POUG's to be given this far out ?!

Update:
I have taken the POUG on the outbound and inbound segment , not too bad 224 GBP return in CE to JER !

Not bad - guessing it's a mid J 744?

Was offered £49 during OLCI (ET -> CE) on tonight's BA916 LHR-FRA.

Didn't take it because I've already got lounge access as a Silver and don't really need to effectively spend £49 on dinner!

Fair comment... had it been a 'long' band I would have gone for it but given 'short' band food is essentially a small salad I preferred to spend £15 on a proper dinner in Giraffe with some nibbles later on in the lounge.

I just booked a flight using Expedia for GVA-LCY-GVA which is obviously a HBO fare. I chose Expedia because I was checking general availability (a lot of options had the outbound with BA and the inbound with U2, an unheard of combination in previous years but presumably a mix of one way tickets) and I like the layout of options, easy to compare with other carriers etc. The other reason is, British Airways is not present on any of the cashback sites. Going through shoop.de in Germany yielded me some cashback plus Payback points (possible to double dip these days). But does booking through Expedia exclude me from being offered a POUG?

Incidentally, the price of EUR195 (incl. credit card fee) was excellent for such a short notice booking, three days out. Over at easyJet, Expedia was offering EUR112 as the cheapest RT on the same dates, but that figure would rise a lot by the time you add other options and the cc fee. Booking directly with easyJet would, obviously, be a bit cheaper.

Booking via a travel agent will usually prevent the offering of a POUG until BA regains control of the ticket around the time OLCI opens. You may or may not be offered one at that stage. I'm not familiar with the frequency of POUG offers on GVA-LCY and vice versa, though when offered, POUGs on LCY routes tend to be reasonably priced.

Oh well, we'll wait and see and I'll report back here if anything exciting happens. I was pretty much resigned to the fact that booking with Expedia would exclude me from any POUG. So that is good news.

However I have seen POUGs offered on routes like LIG and ZTH, so that isn't a total blocker.
I was offered a POUG on the inaugural flight to MJV in March from LHR (and rtn).
Accepted both ways it came in at £25 less than the total fare would normally have cost. (HBO + POUG + POUG).

Well. I wasn't offered a POUG at online checkin (GVA-LCY booked on Expedia). Next time lucky!
