The only way this would happen is if someone told BA's beancounters that retro-liveried planes burnt fuel at a slower rate than normal ones.

Discussed ad nauseum last year.
Would anyone but geeks notice anyway if they did?

In the final year or 2 of the 747, I'd love to see one of them painted in the Landor livery. I've seen some photoshop images of the A380 in Landor and I think that looks great, never gunna happen though.
Can't see why one of the new build B787 A350 can't be painted in retro colours, would it cost anymore than painting it in the current livery. Think it's just a case of BA have just decided not to bother.

Personally I think it's time for a livery update, the current one still looks OK but it's that ribbon/speedmarque thingy that looks naff to me.

Perhaps a post Brexit livery with "British" in large letters along the full length of the fuselage.

Run by an Irish skinhead and his Spanish sidekick.....
Back OT would love to see one of the 747s in BOAC Golden Speedbird livery (I personally think the Landor livery was a bit 'fussy')

Isn't it time for the 2012 gold liveries to be updated?

I like this idea- and we get the passengers to vote on how much fuel to take on and I'll campaign for half as much as before so that we can save the extra money to use on catering and then we take back control from the so-called 'expert' pilots....

(old person) - ahhh it reminded me of the good old days!
Well, that aside, maybe BA doesn't want to remind its old timers of the good old days after all the recent enhancements = ))

The dove aircraft are slowly being repainted back in to normal livery - I think it was all going to be completed by the end of this year. There is at least one left which I saw yesterday although since the engines have been changed it is a dove with blue engines - I think it is G-EUPH.

BA decided to do retro interiors rather than retro liveries for the LH planes.
