2nd Nov BA 143 LHR-DEL diverted to GYD (Baku, Azerbaijan)

Today's BA 143 LHR-DEL 777 seems to have just diverted to GYR (Baku, Azerbaijan). Anyone have any information on the cause?

Currently waiting at DEL for this aircraft, and the departure time for the return BA 142 on the 3rd has been updated from 0320 to 0541. Not sure if that'll stick, and whether my connection from LHR to the US will survive.

It's a medical emergency.

Looks like a medical emergency (listed as Passenger Convenience). Currently planned for 90 minutes on the ground, which isn't unrealistic.

Thanks CIHY and Airprox.

Do you think BA will proactively re-book the connection to protect me? (Paid J ticket BA/AA.)

Wondering whether I head to the airport early to see if I can get a re-route on another carrier...

I would think they will but they won't do anything until they know the arrival time in to DEL, I will let you know when it's airborne.

Thank you, that would be great!

The latest alert I just got shows a 3.16 hour delay in departure.

I have nothing constructive to add to this thread other than to say Baku is GYD, not GYR.

Sorry

Goodbye

Would love a direct BA flight to GYD - Baku is meant to be a great City

Thanks!

Definitely an illegal connection at LHR now.

Getting rebooked by BA as we speak. Thankfully I didn't leave my hotel room as initally planned at 130am!

BA only stopped flying to GYD back in April, so I don't think there's much chance of it coming back any time soon!
