This is absolutely fantastic.
My GE application was pending and the earliest I could get an appointment in NYC was October which was a little ridiculous. I've now moved it to London. It seemed silly they didn't have one at the Embassy to start with! Especially considering there are other Embassies you can register at and DOH too (random!).

I applied last November, paid the £42 but heard nothing back, nor received a "UK Access Code".
This has nicely prompted me to check up on the status.^
I fear I may have to re-apply, but I'm hesitant to stump up another £42.

Something has gone wrong then. Most people seem to receive their Home Office approval within a matter of days - unless there is a problem with your record

I agree with Karfa... The UK one should be pretty quick, I think mine cleared overnight... but I was not surprised as I've had lengthier background checks anyway. The US side on the other hand....

Can anyone apply for this or do you need to ideally visit the US a certain number of times a year?
I visit occasionally but want to fly more in the next year or so and hopefully less queuing will make it more pleasant.

There is no regular travel requirement so anyone can apply.

In terms of cost/reward of doing it, difficult to say. If you do plan to visit many times it really is worth it and you get TSA pre-check too.

Given that a lot of the US airports have installed or will be installing APC then the benefits are reducing on that aspect. The big benefit is for people doing flights which are enrolled for TSA pre-check such as some US domestic flights. Here you can save a lot of time.

I've got a few PTY-MIA flights in November that require too much queuing.
Not sure if anything could go through by then.
Might apply and see what happens and read the info about it tonight
