Punished for skipping leg(s) on a BA ex-EU-ticket?
Tempted to participate in the yearly Fellsmere Festival, the most convenient, priceworthy and TP-efficient travel would be to fly XXX-LHR-BOS/NYC/DCA/PHL/RDU/MIA-MCO r/t.
However enjoyable, there might be time considerations leading to skipping a leg (or two) returning.
Will I be punished for this?

Well, if you skip anything but the last leg on the return, then the rest of the ticket would be cancelled anyway.
So, depending on what you want to do, if you are happy to drop the last couple of sectors, then I can't see that you would be punished for it. I have never really heard of people being chased for the difference in fare.

As above, the only leg you can feasibly drop is the last leg as any legs missed before will cancel the subsequent trips.
And then short checking the bags prior to the last leg can sometimes be tricky as they are educated on this. Booking the last leg from say Gatwick to DUB/AMS or wherever you are starting as opposed to LHR should fix this.

The only leg you may be able to drop with perhaps impunity is the last one, and you won't find many of the old lags here recommending you do this. First time you'd probably get away with it, but one can almost hear the screws being tightened on this area. Even doing it once, if done via a travel agency, may cause problems. You'll also have to think through checked bag issues, if not HBO, you will find it particularly tricky to avoid a Florida to XXX bag route for the return, short of switching airports in London.
Best to make a virtue of XXX, choose it well and enjoy that as well.
Festival sounds fun mind.

I've dropped the last leg a couple of times with no problems. However, as CWS sas, it sounds like they are cracking down so I am planning to complete the itinerary tonight/tomorrow on my return journey. The only way I would not is if my LHR-DUB-LHR gets cancelled. I'd probably just cancel and go straight home rather than faffing around with rescheduling.

Start and end in Dublin or Amsterdam, there are plenty of flights a day that are always cheap so it's easy to finish.

Organise the last leg from LGW and you will be able to collect your bags in LHR and head home.
If booked on ba.com I don't think there are any examples of people being repriced - you would be unlucky to be chosen but nothing in life is 100%.

Most grateful for all valuable comments from the knowledgeable crowd on BAFT.
As I have a ticket on hold, I don't have to make a decision today.
I think I'll wait for yet more response, not wanting to jump into conclusions

If you miss a leg, subsequent legs will be automatically cancelled.

As has already been stated, missing any segment will cause all remaining segments on the ticket to be cancelled.

(I'm trying to be obliging and give you the advice you've been waiting for)
The reality is crueller, but it's surely not a difficult concept: if you don't turn up for a flight, the rest of your itinerary goes down the pan.
So while it's fine to ditch the final leg(s), it's pretty dumb to abandon any of the others.
