Probably not :P

You never know, it might actually take 5 months to get through security these days, and I'm sure Heathrow wouldn't want you to miss out on any retail opportunities before your flight through lack of time

Been wondering the same here - as I have also received these emails - about 4 to 5 months before the trip dates. Why so early? Is there any particular reason? Just curious.

It's like the texts asking you to rate your recent flight, lounges etc. -that you get while still heading to the airport!

My wife received a 'preparing for your trip' email on the 23rd January for our flights on the 3rd July.
I had assumed she received it as she hadn't updated her API, as I didn't receive an email as my API is already updated!

I actually quite like those texts , especially the check in your cabin baggage for free due to a expected busy flight resulting in limited cabin space.... Those are always welcome

As it's titled ''preparing for your trip'' it might be a reminder to apply for a visa, passport, book your accommodation or car hire, arrange pet care, lose weight etc etc.

Sadly there seems to be an increasing amount of travellers going about nowadays who can't think for themselves.

I think these are sent out half way between booked date and departure date. So the record should be 177 days or so. You'll then get another at seven days before, and then one at -24 hours.
