Yellow Priority Tags - A Fashion Statement?
I've recently noticed quite a few people are keeping their yellow (O/W First) tags on (primarily BA and Qatar First), whilst removing their destination barcode tags.
I've seen them on normal suitcases (why leave them on when taking the other off? The check-in agents will give you new ones and / or remove them if not applicable?).. Oddly, I've also seen them on briefcases(?), rucksacks(?) and once on a handbag(??). Not sure what their motivations are..other than showing off.
Just wondering if anyone else (especially those of you who fly a tremendous amount a year) has noticed this trend? I find it funny to be honest, but there may be a logical explanation.

I tend to remove all the clutter, and start afresh after each trip. The accumulation of that elastic string and frayed paper looks sooooo untidy.
Only my shiny BAEC tag, attached with one of those wire fasteners, arrives at the airport. What else does one need?

No need for a new one if they can be reused
Not all agents remove them (in fact very few remove them)
They sometimes (regularly) work on subsequent flights even when not entitled to priority baggage

I keep mine as it was hard work to get it. The agent (at MAN) had to make a special trip upstairs to find said yellow tags which took about 5 minutes. Having finally attached the tag he then dispatched the case down the belt without attaching the baggage tag resulting in a trip down to the bowels of the airport for him and a lot of stress for me!

I leave my priority tags on (the regular ones) as I really only ever fly BA in CW. So rather than waist paper I just leave them on I reuse them. Good for the environment why change them each time. While the barcode can't be reused so it is removed.
That's my logic...
Though I wouldn't ever be caught with it on my hand luggage.

The check-in agent always puts them on my bags, why would the check-in agent need their ego stroking

Going by the number of post i see on social media about when someone is in an airline lounge or flying business class....i'm going to say yes since so many people seem to see it as posh. Nice to have dreams i suppose.

But I 'm sure someone said the other day that it's all done in the barcode nowadays, and so the tag isn'nt necessary.
Coming back from Milan the other week, we used normal bag drop, didn't get priority tags and our bags were still first on the carousel.
