This thread concerns a period on 6 August 2015 when for at least 6 hours, starting a 07:30 GMT, BA, AA and AY offered Business class flights from 3 Norwegian airports - Oslo, Stavanger and Bergen - to the USA. By cheap we mean below £400 for OSL-LHR-USA in business class return, plus additional flights in First thereafter. Bragging rights go to crazy8534, original post here. Around lunchtime these fares were pulled, but by that time a number of FTers had leapt in and got themselves booked and ticketed. Some also upgraded existing bookings or UuA'd to First.

BA have now confirmed directly to many FTers via email that their bookings will be honoured (Screenshot of email courtesy AAtticus). We await confirmation from those booked on AA.com and those with multiple bookings.

Back to back information for OSL, BGO and SVG is to be found here, and also there is a photo guide here for OSL kindly posted by wjh5879.

Specifics on the fare basis and rules here.

Guide to OSL hotels here (kindly provided by krist1an)
Guide to eating out in Oslo here and also here without needing a wheelbarrow of money (also kindly provided by krist1an). Two microbreweries are identified here by Berksflyer.

It was an unusually poor translation by Google Translate. It translated tariff as "collective" rather than "fare basis". The original is here:

It looks to me to be a booking which was ticketed, altered, then revalidated and the revalidation failed. But I'm hoping a better German speaker will give a better version.

My fare remains ticketed.

I'm only travelling in May (twice)
- first one booked with American via UK site, ex-OSL to West Coast with a nice F leg LAX-JFK on return. Bit of a schoolboy error booking ex-OSL I realised after the fact, but had gone for an afternoon departure so have RFS for a back to back and the prior flight for now while I work it out. Overnighting in BOS (must check Hilton points now), with a slight inefficiency given BOS-LAX and LAX-SFO are both AA25... (still less than 50p per TP)
- second one booked via BA.com, had put request into TA to book and GUF it but pulled trigger myself when it looked like fare was being pulled. Within 1 minute of BA confirmation email had a response from TA querying the fare I quoted and it had been repriced on BA.com - so made it by the skin of my teeth! Had looked at the turnaround thread by then so booked ex-BGO, also decided to use 30,000 Avios to knock £200 off the fare (basically what I'll get for it anyway). A much more 'vanilla' on to SEA for 360 TPs (still less than 50p per TP if I look at cash paid net of Avios). Only realised BGO RFS is cheaper when booking them, so doubly inefficient to have gone ex-OSL on first fare...

So 1,200 TPs for about £650 all-in, and a few thousand net Avios also. Plus a long weekend in SFO and also SEA. Can always trade in the current RFS bookings for HBO at about £85 return - might do for BGO, but if OSL is tight turnaround might not be best idea. CE for about £120 e/w also - feels bloody expensive in comparison! Think that's close to 2,000 TPs worth of trips next year through these two, an ex-GER over New Year's and return leg of a WTP ex-DUB that I GUF'd. Maybe I can retain my (imminent) CCR card after all...

How did you manage to get that ticketed in F rather than J with the I fare basis?? [although whichever way you managed it congratulations!]

I got an email from a good friend about this at about 10.30am.

I managed to get:

1 TP run to LAX in November on my own
1 'holiday' to SFO with my eldest son, that I will hope to add on a few days in Hawaii
1 weekend in JFK with my wife

I also alerted my best mate to this and he booked MIA for his family

The smugness quotient is running high, hopefully all will stay ticketed as they are now. Slight concern about dropping the last segments...

Looks like my CCR card is well and truly safe until 2017

I think they will stay ticketed...I called the GGL to use a Joker to go into F (using UUA). There was quite a long hold while they released the tickets (I wonder what they were saying in the back office...)

I've got 4 trips lined up: Oct, Feb, April, May.

Radisson OSL booked on a flexible rate for the night before all of them.
Will be my first chance to use my Club Carlson Gold from the Amex Platinum

I have a feeling there may be one or two other FTers there when I am!

Truely gutted I missed out, was online this morning, but don't often look at the sale website.

Wouldn't hold out much for SVG, no lounge, beer is 10GBP a pint. They do have a cracking fish tank though, the hot dogs are quite tasty and if you do go landside, the chicken sandwhich in the cafe above security is the best around

A data point about OSL transfer security - I've been through there a few times connecting on SAS and on the last two occasions (both Saturdays) been stuck behind a queue of >100 transferring to US-bound Norwegian flights. 100 infrequent travellers passing through 1 security lane takes even longer than you might think.

I booked OSL-LHR-JFK and return for October, many thanks to the OP

I had an identical experience, had to wait for what must have been 3-5 minutes for them to release the F inventory for an upgrade.

Oh this is bringing back some recent memories now! I was in OSL earlier this year and I remember passing that transfer queue for security - seemed to be long and very slow moving and that would have been around 1100 on a Saturday morning. I remember thinking that it wouldn't be a great place to transfer if it was like that.

Thanks to all for the kind words and apologies for my shameless compliment-digging! Thanks for the wiki CWS and I'll take that Ryanair flight you are offering to take with me at your convenience . (That reminds me of the time my wife ended up sitting beside a man from air traffic control on a domestic to LHR, the poor fellow must have thought he was being subjected to an extraordinary rendition such was the level of interrogation; why are we so high? why is that plane so high? why are we holding? why are we so low? why is that plane so low? when will we land? how often do they land? why haven't we landed yet?....you get the picture...)

I think we all know that we are in for a bit of a roller-coaster, especially if you are relying on these bookings for a planned trip. Whatever any of us say there really is no way to know until we have waited it out for a while. Hopefully the most anyone will lose is what we might spend on positioning flights. Now this doesn't cement any kind of precedent but I was interested to read this about the BA ex-DXB F fare from April this year: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.c...ll-be-honored/. Does anyone know if anyone who booked that has actually flown?

Good luck to all of you and sincere sympathy for anyone who missed out. I put it up as soon as I saw it but with hindsight it would have gained better visibility with its own thread. When I am stuck in Stavanger with an angry wife you are all welcome to belly-laugh! On the other hand I know there are already those who think that these kind of mistakes should be an elite secret and not spread openly. I don't agree. I have benefited hugely from the openess and kindness of the mods, ambassadors and many frequent and not-so-frequent flyers here. ^

In the stolen words of another FTer: safe and happy travels!
