27 Mar: Large numbers of BAEC accounts being Locked/Zeroed Out/in Audit ('Ex-gratia')

My Avios balance, which was 46,418 yesterday, is suddenly zero.

Under recent transactions, there's an entry that says "ex gratia" and the balance column says "-46,418".

What the heck?!

Your account is likely suspended and being investigated.

And a totally incorrect use of the term 'ex gratia' which is a payment made without admission of liability.

E.g. BA giving someone avios because the IFE didn't work would be ex-gratia

Saw this and thought I would check mine - and they're all gone!!

Account in audit, security breach apparently...

Totally. BA use ex-gratia for temporarily withdrawn avios (audits), purchased avios, transferred avios, none of which are really ex gratia at all!

Same has just happened to me.
I called BAEC, answered a few security questions, and was told my Avios will be reinstated soon.

Haha.... My account should be replenished with my missing avios within 24-48 hours after answering a couple of security questions and resetting my password.

They told me that they suspected my account had been breached somehow.

I asked if this had happened because I made a complaint today! Apparently not ;)

i guess it must be a mass audit, can't even get through to the gold Line, just comes up as "engaged"

Mine have disappeared too - well in to 7 figures!

I'm in no rush to use them though.

AAtticus Mar 27, 2015 7:04 am

Mine as well, shows ex-gratia and all gone.

CKemahli Mar 27, 2015 7:10 am
