I am a CX F Lounge lover. I am far from surprised that the Champagne has disappeared and that it needs to be requested - I have watched from the "Throne" in the corner as people made pigs of themselves swilling three glasses within minutes. I might add that on a previous visit installed in the same seat some Hammersmith "Royalty" commented to his consort in his idea of a stage whisper
"What is she doing in My seat??" I generously assumed that no one reading this would be so tacky and vulgar. I sincerely hope they were informed of who you are! |

I ate there on Wednesday and I think that it's 09:30 to 11:30 for brunch (to cover the LHR-PER-MEL flight). A mixed experience - the S&P squid was good, but the eggs benedict with smoked salmon was weird - hard yolks and snotty whites!?

A few years since I've been in T3. On the basis of recent posts (and just with biz class access) decided to visit Qantas and Cathay business lounges. Arrived at QF just before 11:00, possibly the perfect time as the flight to Perth / Melbourne was about to board. Was fairly empty but brunch was still being served. Had eggs Benedict - pretty good but the eggs were a bit overdone. Great service. Then went upstairs for a couple of glasses of wine. Quiet, nice atmosphere, good service and good view.
Then went to the CX lounge for noodles. Again, good service, quiet, nice atmosphere & view I'd say at that time of day (11 -14:00) QF and CX lounges are very nice options. |
Had my first experience of the CX Business lounge last week. I liked.
Was quite quiet as early morning, and enjoyed the different catering options/noodle bar. And a glass or two of fizz. Nice loos too, as my mother would insist on pointing out. Though I did have to head back to BA lounge for (I think at least that day) better bacon/egg product and some cake. Where I also found the new furniture quite comfy, which was good. |
I have a 10:30 departure next Monday from T3 (AA). Silver member in Y. Always impressed with the CX lounge but what would be the best option for around 8.30am for a decent, probably western breakfast ?
|
Probably BA Galleries. They used to do crappy bullet rolls with egg or bacon, but post covid, I believe there is a real buffet now, like there was in BA F.

It's the record of November 7th I headed to Vienna from T3 to use GUF and visited CCR Dining in BA F and F Lounge operated by CX. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b5798020b.jpeghttps://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9a16c6b34.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c94e99245.jpeg The view was pretty impressive. As soon as I sat down, the staff offered me an LPGS https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2666cda6f.jpeg Corn chowder and bread served https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...01819a9db.jpeg Chicken Bunjai Curry with Rice https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9e076a7df.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...291f50a15.jpeg The same terrine as the CCR was in the self-service bar. Desserts seemed to be brought from the regular first-class buffet area. It wasn't in the picture, but it was a normal brownie https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...16f2ecf94.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ec434f0ce.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...14e1e0873.jpegI had dim sum and noodles in CX lounge.. I'm sorry, I was already drunk at that time.. I drank a lot of LPGS. I'm sorry the picture is a mess Well, the bottom line was both satisfactory. If I have to go to T3, I'll try the other lounges again Good evening! |
Choices, choices, choices: business class/ows
Friend on 10:35 am flight, best lounge for breakfast and maybe a shower. Me 2:40pm flight, best lounge for lunch and put my feet up. I’ll be using wheelchair assistance and last time they insisted I had to use the lounge of the airline I was flying. Return I’ll be departing 9:25am. Best lounge for breakfast. Might be owe by that time. |

Looks like my LHR-ATL F flight next week is now departing from T3. I have a connection from MAN (T5) so probably won't have too long (2.5 hours scheduled connection time). Is the best T3 option still Cathay F lounge or is the First Dining better? Connection is early afternoon - thanks.

To be honest, it will probably depend on the day. Early afternoon should be better for Cathay ( as the first evening CX departure is not until 1730 or so ) but some AA pax with status ( plus BA pax) may use it. With the limited BA F flights the CCR dining might be quieter and early morning the BA F lounge was very quiet when I had the 1020 AY flight to HEL in October Would try both ( probably CCR dining though). CX F champagne and prosecco is now on demand apparently ( due to over consumption?) whereas BA is self pour Regards TBS |
I've downgraded CX F lounge, as things have gone downhill. Used to be my fave - but service has dropped.
Champagne now only on request - already noted here - but, staff are scarce and one recently interpreted my request for a glass of brut champagne and a glass of rose champagne as a rose glass and a cocktail. When I visited recently, most restaurant tables were empty - but reserved. There were a couple which were taken by lucky people. They did deliver to seat outside, but many aren't designed for dining. While I understand they need to keep some free for CX elites turning up, I don't think they are managing this well.... |

Passing through T3 as BA Gold on Saturday morning (9am ish). We’ve about 90 mins & want to get some brekkie & a couple of glasses of bubbles. Any advice on where’s best?

I'd recommend AA F for those requirements - they will thrust Moet at you as you walk in, and the a la carte dining is good, although smallish portions, so you might want to order a couple of dishes each.
|
Thanks for the advice guys. Any recent menus?

About 6 weeks ago. If you look at the full report I wandered around all the 1st lounges that morning |
I’m in the Qantas Lounge, I had a healthy-ish broccolini, houmous and egg dish, with the squid of course. Washed down with a flat white. All delicious.

CX has the sign to ask a hostess for Champagne? Not sure if I've seen that before. Chinese breakfast was chicken porridge, dim sum basket and friend shanghai noodles. Won ton & Dan Dan Noodles on demand. The full western breakfast of course with eggs any style, ham, bacon, pastries, fruits and yogurt. Amex CL continues to offer a large variety. At this point, I wasn't very hungry and didn't actually try anything, though my friend wanted to visit the CL here and all the OWE lounges. He appeared to like the food. During my visit, kind of crowded and much preferred the corner lounge chair seats at the CX lounge. AC definitely more spacious and comfortable now with their separated section. |

j is an admirals club in T3, but F is just called a first lounge. It was never renovated in to the flagship style.

I don't believe they are and have ever been called Admiral Club or Flagship in LHR. They are very different from any Admiral Clubs in the US, which don't have any self pour alcohol, only a bar with a couple of drinks available for free. The AA F is closer to a Flagship. I think they're called AA business and AA first. I didn't notice if it said Flagship on the door last time I went in over First, so that might have changed over the refurb.

Makes it quite confusing for the rest of us though when they're generally understood as Business and First lounges at T3, distinguished by IATA airline codes. When i first read your post i thought AC referred to Air Canada, but that of course is at T2.

Do any of the T3 lounges do an espresso martini? It’s been a long day already and expecting an even longer one!
|
I'm reasonably sure CX J would make an expresso martini for you at the bar, AA F might have it on it's listed drinks in the menu (not sure if you can request custom cocktails). Not OW, there's a chance the Amex Centurion one too. A chance of QF of doing one too (never been in, so only speculation). On same line, the new CCR in BA would likely do it (it's a listed cocktail in T5 CCR).
For fans of cocktails, it might be nice for someone to say what the options are for some, the usual, mojito, margarita, expresso martini. |
Merry Christmas from the AA First Lounge!

Looks like the turkeys have been pardoned. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3ae8a334ae.jpg Salmon gravlax. Delicious but quite a lot of red onion so not FODMAP friendly. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fe1470d452.jpg Goes very nicely with a glass of Rosé Moët 🍾🥂 https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...392d33ff20.jpg We wish you a Merry Christmas 🌲🎄🎶🛷❄️❄️🌨️ |

The Amex lounge will make pretty much any standard cocktail if they have the ingredients. |
Recently tried the First Dining area in T3 on the way to Lyon (asked if I was GGL and that was fine so not just 1st class) - I have to say that although the menu is the same as Concorde in T5 it was better in that it actually came out hot and had just been cooked. I find the Concorde room cooking is usually cold and tasteless to the point I have stopped eating there. I guess smaller kitchen and less users means that more attention on it.

We are just returning from almost 4 weeks in Madeira. We had to overnight and now waiting for BA0085 to leave. Still have about 3 hours to go and have been in this lounge for about 4 hours now. It has been a delight. We have had great food and drinks. It has been wonderfull talking with all the staff (they are so kind and really are human - although some here treat them as a sub species). In LHR there is no better place that I would rather kill a 7 hour wait.
A tip to fellow Canadians, bring a good adapter for an electrical devices that might need charging. I brought an all-in-one and it doesn't work here (note to self). In case that I don't post before the end of 2023 Merry Christmas and all the best to Flyer Talkers in 2024. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1f69ee1035.jpg View from my seat in the Cathay Pacific Lounge |
Question on access to T3 CCR. If arriving on QR F and onwards SH on BA as a GGL I can access, but how many guests and dies QR F get entrance or only BA F? (And does being rebooked from BA to QR have any impact - probably not). Yep, I know I can go to CX, but want to try the CCR @ T3
|
QR F doesn't get access to the mini CCR. It is BA, AA, and JAL only in terms of F.
