Sitting on the ground in MAD for well over an hour now as apparently weather is bad...

Its bad 30 minutes from London. Worse than last week.

It's a bit windy but I've been walking around in shirtsleeves.

Hang on I will try and take a photo - getting a little dark

Mild and calm at Kings Cross last night and this morning.

A lot worse in the Tottenham / White Hart Lane area last night but that had nothing to do with the weather!

Very windy Amsterdam at the moment.
In LHR heard lots of ATC delays, my wife & daughter BA435 delayed over 1 hour, most likely will miss the flight to ORD on BA297.

Trying to fix that at this moment with help of my colleagues.

it's dark and a bit cloudy, a bit of wind but nothing too serious. I'm overlooking the runway if that helps

I'm around 20 km SW of LHR and, quite frankly it's been threatening to rain a bit. But, really not that bad at all here. Certainly nothing I'd expect to cause any serious issues for landing/take-off.

Having said that a cursory look at fr24 shows all four of the holds active. So, maybe it's a bit breezy more east of here (or a bit higher up).

Just landed on BA6. Bumpy approach and ground congestion. 30 minutes from touchdown to doors open.

Flight connections and security is a bloody disgrace again. This airport is now really one to avoid if you can.

At least the calm of the CCR will be worthwhile.

The winds are currently 17 knots and forecast to gust to 28 knots this evening, so believe it is indeed wind that is the factor. Visibility is good, cloud base low and overcast but okay so nothing else weather wise to cause it.

EGLL (London/Heathrow) arrivals
Regulated due to weather (strong wind).
Further reduced arrival rate. Moderate to high delays.

Above from Eurocontrol.

Thanks to over 50 years of Government dithering.

Quite frankly I'm amazed they perform as well as they do at the most congested international airport in the world.
