"collecting" 1 avios to activate RFS

I told a friend about RFS flights and he tried to book some but it came up with 9,000 Avios and ~£65 in taxes.

After some confusion at his and my end end, we figured out that he hadn't "collected" any avios in the last 12 months (though he's silver).

In order to 're-activate' the RFS deals, what counts as "collecting" an avios? Obviously, collecting through flying will but will any of the following count:

- Tesco Clubcard conversion into his BAEC account?
- Shell conversion into his BAEC account?
- transfer from his Avios.com account into his BAEC account?
- transfer from my Avios.com into his BAEC account?
- transfer from my BAEC account into his BAEC account?

Any other 'easy' ways others can think of (without going down the route of earning via credit cards which is a bit complicated for this scenario).

Thanks in advance.

Buy something via BA e-store, though it takes a while to post

The tesco one counts (worked for me going in to Avios.com). Transfers between BA and avios.com don't (I believe).

Yes, yes, no.

I think so. Someone will confirm (or otherwise). The question was asked before here.

Find the Avios page on Facebook and like it or download one of their badges. The Avios will post relatively quickly. Once posted the top up with the required Avios from BA to Avios account and book your flight(s).

Here's some info from Head for Points:
