I just checked and our CE RFS domestic flights last year also booked into U even when one included a stopover in London.

Hi everyone,

After several years earning Avios very slowly (economy travel), my better half and I about to go on our first ever redemption this weekend. We're flying from the regions to LHR, then connecting to Berlin.

On our way back, only Club Europe seats were available for the TXL-LHR leg, so we're booked CE TXL-LHR and Domestic from LHR. I've checked in Manage My Booking, and we're booked into "U" for both TXL-LHR and the Domestic leg. Will we be entitled to spend our 2 hour connection in the lounge at LHR T5?

I have read the guidelines and all of this post as well as this one but I'm still unclear on the current rules and their implementation. I think that "U" grants access?

The MMB 'lounge' tab says "British Airways Terraces Lounge - Location: The Terraces lounge is located on the first level in the Main Hall" (I am guessing this is at Tegel), and on the second leg "Galleries Club T5A & T5B". So this suggests I have access to both?

Any guidance is gratefully appreciated!

Thanks

You should get in but the lounge steward may not allow immediately but challenge them if that happens.

I was refused on a CE flight back to LHR from FCO with a connection to EDI, explained that I had just came from a CE flight and was allowed in no problem but I do know this isn't always the case. My CE flight was also an avios redemption.

If you say you have come off a CE booking and are in the "U fare bucket" that may just click the bit of knowledge required this area.

So yes you get the lounge in Tegel (which is well away from the gate, go to gate 0 then look up for Starbucks, the lounge is opposite), as well as South Lounges - the better of the two A gate options - and North Lounges - more handy location on your return being just after the security check and before the usual domestic gates. For the domestic lounge on the outbound, I don't think you will have a problem with any of them, certainly not NCL or EDI.

Well, in defence of the location of the lounge at TXL (from which I report atm), it's not really a long way from the gate. LHR flights usually end up using A05 and this cannot be more than 300m away from here! (Cannot say the same about many lounge:gate distances at other airports).
That said it is a bit difficult to find and the Starbucks tip is good advice for orientation - also if you travel to the airport on the TXL bus from the centre of town then you are only 20 meters from the lounge - I can see buses out the window all the time.

In Flyertalk terms, that's about 3 miles away! But you're correct, it's less than 5 minutes walk, but there are some who enter into A05 and expect to find a lounge there.....

Yes, you're right about that. Nothing airside for BAEC's. AB has a few Exklusiver Wartebereich /Exclusive Waiting Area locations in Term A and C which are all airside. This is a specific TXL problem given airport layout. They all resemble a transport cafe with vending machines (FOC) for soft drinks and coffee. Only problem is that BAEC's don't get access, irrelevant of travel class. Only really miss this "rare privilege" when departing AB from terminal C in TXL, otherwise I go to BA or AF in Terminal A.
Funnily enough at CGN you can get in with AB BP as BAEC - a bit inconsistent and ceratinly not in keeping with the German "Ordnung" I would expect from AB.
Sic transit gloria mundi.
Have a nice Friday!

I was admitted to Galleries South after a CE flight from MAD connecting to BHD Domestic.

Decided to nip out for a few minutes in order to take advantage of the local shopping centre and pick up a gift for the kids.

On re-entering I was refused admission. They did not believe me that I had already been admitted and that my bags and iThinghys where in the lounge.

So after a lot of he says/she says the computer says I was escorted to my seating area to show them my personal stuff at my seat, and with a wink was told to enjoy the rest of my visit but not to try this again.

Who was right? In my wee world you get lounge access on your connecting flight in the class of the 'master flight' but my lounge dragons are telling me that this only applies when connecting to Domestic from CW not CE.

Staggering. No wink required, just an apology........ The trouble is it is obvious that lounge staff still think they are right and that noniron was let in by mistake.....

They would only be correct if it was 2 tickets, and that's a oneworld rule anyway. If it was 1 ticket then they were in the wrong since they didn't spot a BA rule which would have supported your admission. Get yourself status, it makes life so much easier!
