Following the excellent POUG thread (Pro-active Online Upgrade (POUG) tracking and discussion 2016 thread) this wikipost is all about fixed price AUP (airport upgrades). AUPs are either offered at check-in at the airport, or (less regularly) in the lounge at the airport upon request. More specifics at the end of this wiki, see below.

How to get a AUP
They are only available on the day of travel from the airport. You cannot ring up for them or arrange it in advance. It is subject to availability of both seats and facilities at the airport concerned.
LHR: If you have lounge access probably the best place to find out in this situation is Galleries Club South lounge, at the customer service desk on the left on entry. (T3 GC equivalent is on the right just past the entrance). It needs a ticket agent, who wear blue name badges, and there is always one on duty there. Sometimes the Flounge / CCR customer service agents are ticketing agents, but that's luck of the draw.
For LGW ask the ticket office at the transit / glass end of zone C. For LCY ask at the customer service desk on the left in the main hall. For most practical purposes, you can't get an AUP once landside in LGW or LCY.
Otherwise you can ask at check-in, they can find out whether it is available and send you to someone else for the ticketing aspects. In T5 you can also check at Zone E since again there is always a ticketing agent on duty there.
For domestic terminals you can also ask at checkin, GLA, EDI and MAN have particular desks for this. For non UK locations, ask at the ticket desk where one exisits, but in many locations there isn't one and you need to ask at the check-in counter. At some locations there is neither a ticket desk nor qualified agents, particularly in Europe, so effectively no AUP is offered at this location. At some locations (YYZ, IAD, JFK) they can be arranged from the lounge.

At some locations there is neither a ticket desk nor qualified agents, particularly in Europe, so effectively no AUP is offered at this location. At some locations (YYZ, IAD, JFK) they can be arranged from the lounge.

Does anyone know if you can AUP an UUA upgrade (I.e. WT+ to CW with UUA and the AUP to First)?

FRA-LHR yesterday, 135 euros to CE which I wouldn't normally do however Euro Traveller was completely packed.
On a different note: Avios and tier points were added to my account this morning (in less than 24 hours) and to my surprise it was showing the full 40 Club Europe tier points.

Anyone have any idea what LHR-KEF would cost? -its one of the 80tp routes.
I'm on a flight + car booking so no chance of a poug I guess.
Avios availability though, so upgradeable, but fancy some tps this year...

So I would assume this isn't going to happen. If staying a Saturday night you probably best rebook into CE, it would have been the cheapest way anyway. Or indeed UuA to CE if your booking class allows you so to do.

Not sure if this was a mistake but I was just quoted £175 to upgrade OSL-LHR which is much higher than in the Wiki. Guy at the desk said it was a flat rate, and even converted it to USD for me. Passed on the offer.

Last night paid 1,700 MAD (129GBP) for RAK-LGW
Interestingly, expertflyer was showing J1 Y5 before heading to the airport. Was surprised they had 2 AUP available. CE went to row 8.

AUP with a connection
I've not AUPed before, but will soon be travelling from the regions via LHR to the US West coast and return. It's in O all the way through (employer policy) and an open-jaws (SJC/SFO) so I can't POUG.
I was thinking of AUP from WT to WTP for either or both of the long haul sectors if the price is right. Three broad questions spring to mind, as a newbie to this:
1) What would be a 'good' price for these? I realise value is subjective, but I have no idea what an average price might be… there are no recent WT to WT+ offers shown in the Wiki for SFO (or LAX for comparison, nor SJC which is a new route).
2) Should I check in online before going to the airport, or will that 'lock me in' to the O booking and prevent me being offered an AUP? And if you've already checked in, is the baggage drop agent able to offer an AUP?
3) As I'm connecting, when precisely would be the right time speak to someone about an AUP for the long haul? Prior to going through security in the regions, or at LHR T5?
Sorry if the answers to any of these are obvious, but I've not found them yet!
Thanks
