Following the excellent POUG thread (Pro-active Online Upgrade (POUG) tracking and discussion 2016 thread) this wikipost is all about fixed price AUP (airport upgrades). AUPs are either offered at check-in at the airport, or (less regularly) in the lounge at the airport upon request. More specifics at the end of this wiki, see below.

How to get a AUP
They are only available on the day of travel from the airport. You cannot ring up for them or arrange it in advance. It is subject to availability of both seats and facilities at the airport concerned.

LHR: If you have lounge access probably the best place to find out in this situation is Galleries Club South lounge, at the customer service desk on the left on entry. (T3 GC equivalent is on the right just past the entrance). It needs a ticket agent, who wear blue name badges, and there is always one on duty there. Sometimes the Flounge / CCR customer service agents are ticketing agents, but that's luck of the draw.

For LGW ask the ticket office at the transit / glass end of zone C. For LCY ask at the customer service desk on the left in the main hall. For most practical purposes, you can't get an AUP once landside in LGW or LCY.

Otherwise you can ask at check-in, they can find out whether it is available and send you to someone else for the ticketing aspects. In T5 you can also check at Zone E since again there is always a ticketing agent on duty there.

For domestic terminals you can also ask at checkin, GLA, EDI and MAN have particular desks for this. For non UK locations, ask at the ticket desk where one exisits, but in many locations there isn't one and you need to ask at the check-in counter. At some locations there is neither a ticket desk nor qualified agents, particularly in Europe, so effectively no AUP is offered at this location. At some locations (YYZ, IAD, JFK) they can be arranged from the lounge.

$800 WT+ to CW, DFW-LHR, I asked at check-in and was told yes there are plenty of seats available. April 2014.

The very nice check-in lady asked me where I wanted to sit and then let me see the seat map...I chose UD 62J

On another note: I was credited normal WT+ avois, 25% for tier (was bronze) and 25% for cabin and only 90 TP. Should I have received the extra 50 TP and the extra avios for J?

I tried the claim missing avios link on the website but they replied I had been credited already.

Thanks,
churchy

If the base ticket was revenue then yes you should get extra TPs/Avios for the AUP. There is no point using the specific webform, it's logic is simply black or white, either ring up (if it's urgent) or submit the general Customer Service webform (ignoring the suggestion to go back to the specific webform), enter in the PNR and ticket number. On that route it will take about a month or so but you will get them.

Thanks cws, I will follow your advice. My TP year ended a couple of days after the flight, let's see if they notice and only give me the avios

I'm still chasing up some BA Holidays (flight+hotel) points that never credited. Been sitting with the call centre for a few months now .. not sure how it can be so hard. Maybe I should try Nicci!

We have been waiting for bonus Avios from end of March did the web form bit got a reply saying we are not entitled as we didn't fly club explained it was a BA Holiday and after travel bonus still no joy phoned the Silver line 2 weeks ago they sent the request to the " back office" still not posted. We have had another BA Holiday last month so I don't hold out much hope they will post either the tier points and Avios posted within 2 days. I had no problems at all with VS.... Thinking of going back to them as getting a bit fed up with BA.

I did a similar trip in May also (same destination, same cabin (CE)) - and it posted straight away. Still battling for the one back in February though....

Mine failed to post correctly. A call to the BA Gold line, and it was fixed on the statement with the correct amount of Avios and TP after 10 days or d
so.

Long time lurker...but this is my first FT Post!

April 2014:
LGW-MLE
WT to WT+
done at LGW about 4hrs before departure
£209

People sat behind us on the return leg paid the same:
MLE - LGW
WT to WT+
done at MLE about 3hrs before departure
£209

Worth mentioning we did have to chase for TPs and Cabin Bonus Avios...a quick call to the Exec Club and they appeared within 3 weeks.
