Comments made by your non-frequent flyer partners/guests

One of the perks of status and FT know-how is to treat/surprise your friends/partners/guests when traveling together. I find it interesting to observe how they view the newfound experience of higher cabins/lounges, and listen to their remarks. For instance:

- BA 777 [F] 2E/F: "Why are we so far away from each other? I wish we could be closer."
- BA 747 [F] 2A/K: "When/how do I change in to the pyjamas?"
- BA 747 [CW] LD middle seats: "This is so much better"
- BA 747 [CW] UD: "Is this first class?"
- BA 319 [CE]: "Why aren't we sitting next to each other? Who is in the middle?"
- LHR T5: "Why are there so many different lounges?"
- LGW Lounge: "Why are we walking so far away from the shops?"

What have your experiences been?

On treating the other half to CE to Berlin I got a

'That's very silly of you, I thought we were just flying, er, normal class... club world?'

I must be doing something right (wrong) if she thinks CW is normal class...!

Said by a "know it all" friend:

However as the Virgin UC lounge is much much much better than CCR (except for LPGS) that is an understandable mistake.

Before CW - "I'd rather sit in the back and have the fare difference to spend."

After CW - "I don't want to sit in economy, again."

Yes, yes, yes.

When two coworkers found out that I avoid flying in coach whenever possible they called me spoiled and said that the additional cost wasn't worth it. Neither has actually ever flown in anything other then economy even on long haul flights, so I told them to fly in first and then see if they'd still maintain that same position. Once you go first, you never go back.

I upgraded my nephew to CE for the summer holidays. He went back to school telling everybody he flew "first class". Well, he got a meal with cutlery and everything so he was impressed.

Our first CW will be LHR-JFK this coming May,so looking forward to my wife's reaction. However her comments at the moment are along the lines of "Do we have to shop in Tesco's all the time ?"

When hubby was first time in T5 galleries with me, he discovered the ice cream fridge. Didn't see him for a while after that. He was delighted

[Sitting in the A/C side of a convertible CE cabin] Why did they make the middle seat too small for anyone to sit in?

[Before the return flight in ET] it's OK, I'll eat on the plane [not realising the options were biscuits or nuts]
