Limited meal options loaded in F

I've just flown in a packed F cabin where my first choice of main course wasn't available. It wasn't the end of the world obviously! However.....

I asked for the pasta dish and was told they only load three pasta main courses. Really?? This seems pretty stingy considering it was a full F cabin.

Is this normal practise to load so few mains? Seems incredibly poor for an F service.

I wasn't too bothered because I don't eat much on board anyway it just seemed to devalue the F offering.

Sounds right, was the pasta one of the bistro options?
I have to say you were unlucky as we often use a couple of these for back up in the other cabins in we run out of the vegetarian options.

As others have argued on FlyerTalk, we set too high a standard and need to lower our expectations.

To get one's choice of food and drink when travelling first class is simply unrealistic.

Perhaps a book the cook option would assist in carrying the minimum food as BA is doing. Awful awful service for such an expensive ticket.

True, and remember the poster is only a GGL - no doubt the 3 pastas went to 3 people with triple-digit CIVs.

Agree completely.
A pasta dish with both ricotta and spinach is indeed very extravagant, particularly in First.

A few tins of spaghetti hoops in tomato sauce would ensure happy customers.

People will expect bacon for breakfast next.

Luckily, the same purveyors of the spaghetti hoops do tins of beans with bacon or sausages. Perhaps had better only list one on the menu though to manage expectations.

Luckily this gourmet fare can be washed down with a few glasses of LPGS.

Did you ask for it early on in the flight? Since running out of choices seem to be a recurring theme, maybe it would be a good idea to start requesting what we want at the beginning of the flight?

Wow - which route were you on, OP? Three of that meal loaded and you're GGL, I'm amazed you weren't able to get one.

I guess we should all think ourselves lucky when there is a bistro option since there isn't any such option on an A380.
