If anyone's looking to help with a challenge, I'm looking to get 300TP for a trip from HNL between the 30/3 and 4/4 - all options I found were pretty expensive. Alternatively something from MAN after 8/4 and before 22/4?

Sorry Wozza, budget is pretty much open as long as it achieves the 300TP, obviously the cheapest option is best though

Question Please review :: TP itinerary before booking

Thanks to everyone who helped me build up my knowledge in the last few months. I am now in need to book my first TP run. My gold is about to reset end Jan'15 and need to retain for next year. I'll need 1500 TPs, I don't intend to bag them all in one trip, so the first part is using ex-DUB, and I have to take outbound before end of March as I have work holiday that I need to use before April.

So, this is the schedule I managed to construct:

Dublin (DUB) to London (LCY) — Fri, Mar 27

British Airways 4465 Dep: 10:45 am Arr: 12:00 pm 1h 15m Embraer RJ-170 Business (I)
OPERATED BY BA CITYFLYER LIMITED
Layover in LCY 4h 0m

London (LCY) to Shannon (SNN) — Fri, Mar 27

OPERATED BY BRITISH AIRWAYS BA LIMITED Stop in SNN 0h 45m

Shannon (SNN) to New York (JFK) — Fri, Mar 27
American Airlines Inc. 6231 Dep: 6:00 pm Arr: 9:30 pm 7h 30m Airbus A318 Business (I)

Layover in JFK 9h 0m

New York (JFK) to Phoenix (PHX) — Sat, Mar 28

Layover in PHX 1h 15m

Las Vegas (LAS) to Dublin (DUB) — Tue, Mar 31

Las Vegas (LAS) to Phoenix (PHX) — Tue, Mar 31

Please help me with the following:

1. I make the above to earn 1040 TPs and 36532 avios - excluding the positioning. Could you please confirm my 1040 TPs calculation, which is a simple ( 40,210,210,60 ) x 2 [ trip is I / I / I / A / A, rtn is A / A / I / J ]

2. Should I book this on the phone with BA or should I try on the BA website or the AA website ? What are the things I must absolutely watch out for when booking? If I select the above flight numbers - will it all be OK ?

3. (repeat of question 2, but need to have this re-confirmed) : I see the outbound shows as AA4465 -- I presume this will earn 210 TPs ?

4. Is there anything you would change on this trip? Do you think the layover times are sufficient ?

5. Any thoughts from anyone on how to increase slightly the TPs ? (I could alter the trip slightly) - No HNL pls

6. I intent to do this with hand luggage only of course - any other advise anyone would give ? I've read many TP reports from you guys and I think I am getting well prepared - thank you to all.

7. Of course after this trip, I'll need another 400 or so TPs for gold, I will have till Jan 2016 to do, so should be OK with another sale during the year.

Thanks for all your help in advance and have a great TP-earning 2015..

Yes, this is correct.

You should be able to book it on the phone with BA. Just make sure they use the correct flight numbers. Any discrepancy in price is normally because they have used a BA flight code where it requires AA or US.

3. (repeat of question 2, but need to have this re-confirmed) : I see the outbound shows as AA4465 -- I presume this will earn 210 TPs ?
Yes, definitely 210.

If it meets the MCT, you've covered pretty much everything you need, without adding unnecessary time to your trip. Sometimes you just have to rely on things going according to plan, which they do most of the time. Your trip will be on one PNR, so you'll be covered in case of IROPS.

5. Any thoughts from anyone on how to increase slightly the TPs ? (I could alter the trip slightly) - No HNL pls
You could perhaps slot in a DUB-MAD-LHR at the start and LHR-MAD-DUB on the return, but you may increase the price slightly and will certainly increase your travelling time.

6. I intent to do this with hand luggage only of course - any other advise anyone would give ? I've read many TP reports from you guys and I think I am getting well prepared - thank you to all.
Not really much more you can do. Just relax and enjoy the trip

7. Of course after this trip, I'll need another 400 or so TPs for gold, I will have till Jan 2016 to do, so should be OK with another sale during the year.
Don't worry, there will be many more ^

Anyone else patiently waiting for AA to open up sales for that end Nov 2015 period, or is it just me?

I am just looking at all the options before I book a TP run to HNL to remain Gold. Thanks to Filthy Monkey for his help and advice

Anyway - one of the options that has been thrown up is the BA A30 from LAX to LHR under a US Airways flight number. (Z class). However when I plug that into the BA TP calculator it says I would earn 70 TPs rather than 140 - is this correct or a glitch?

Regards

It's a bug. You'll get your 140.

New member but long time follower,

Leaving on a small New Years holiday, flying HEL-LHR-LAX-NYC-LHR-HEL (J/I/I/I/I, booked online at aa.com). BA/BA/AA/BA/AY

£1482 / 580 TP = £2.56 /TP

This will take me to 1165 TP, which should be in line for gold before May when my year ends.

Happy New Year and thank you for a very informative and helpful forum!

Cheapest flight in a premium cabin out of HNL that I can see is HNL-LAX-MIA-GCM return but it comes in at $1617 and nets 920TPs.

First post here but long time lurker.

I booked DUB-PHL-SEA-LAX-LHR-CPH for the next summer.

The SEA-LAX is on AS so no TP but it brings the total to 530 TP for 963 £ = 1,82 £ / tp

Enough for me to reach silver

BTW, this forum is so helpful, thanks to all of you.

Hi, I have a weird problem:
the Matrix says

07-Apr AY666 CPH HEL Class I
07-Apr BA799 HEL LHR Class J
08-Apr BA001 LCY JFK Class I
09-Apr AA261 JFK PHX Class A
09-Apr US694 PHX HNL Class A
13-Apr US675 HNL PHX Class A
14-Apr US614 PHX JFK Class A
14-Apr BA002 JFK LCY Class I
15-Apr BA794 LHR HEL Class J
15-Apr AY667 HEL CPH Class I

Total Airfare & Taxes
€1,611.36

I tried to book that routing at aa.com with Multi-Coty tool - search by Schedule - 50 results - Business Class with Restrictions - aa and oneworld. The price was $5,001.45 USD.
Fare Rules:

CPH-HEL IL28SALE
HEL-LHR IL28SALE
LCY-JFK IL28SALE
JFK-PHX IL28SALE
PHX-HNL YUP6U
HNL-PHX YUP6U
PHX-JFK YUP6U
JFK-LCY IL28SALE
LHR-HEL IL28SALE
HEL-CPH IL28SALE

A travel agency here in Vienna tried to book my routing with their galileo system - they received an error, at the callcenter from BA they got the answer that this routing with the US flights is not possible to book (in A class).

Has anyone the same problem with the IL28SALE and US flights? Any idea how I can get this routing booked?

Thanks in advance.

Regards, Martin
